“Spring Break, relaxing style.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

This would be a great place to go for a Romantic getaway OR a family vacation. Our room was right on the beach, on the third floor. We slept with the screen open so we could hear the beautiful ocean noises and birds serenading us. There was a little area for groceries/microwave and all, so we had everything we needed. It's nice being between the sunny and rainy area in Kauai so that you can head either way. We loved our trip. I definitely recommend the helicopter and movie tours to see the parts of the island you can't drive to!

We chose an ocean front room on the third floor and could not be happier. This room has everything we could possibly want -- a roomy lanai, couch, small refrigerator, kitchen sink, wardrobe, safe, a king size bed and an excellent shower. It is very quiet here. We know lots of other people are staying here, but after four nights have yet to HEAR any sounds from other guests. There is a nice walking path along the ocean we have enjoyed each day. We find the location very convenient to sightseeing all over the island. There are dire signs posted warning against swimming in the ocean right here. We've seen people do it and a few surfers, but have opted to swim in some of the other beaches that are safer in terms of riptide instead. The staff has been friendly and the concierge was very helpful. When we come back we will request room #354 again!

Room Tip: If you like to sleep with a 'window' open you should opt for a second or third floor room as...

Had a great time on our anniversary at Islander on the beach #241. The owner, Wade is awesome, so helpful with his packet of instructions and info on everything you can think of on the island, even babysitters! You can park your car and walk to everything. Need a little something, go to general store at coconut marketplace. Sandwich shops, restaurants, fancy and casual all around. Walk on beach and paths and all the way to historical Kapaa town. Love it! Beautiful view from the balcony, leave the slider open all night, great ocean breeze. Had our coffee, which you can make in your nice little kitchenette on the balcony every morning, joined by the local doves
So cute. Had a wonderful time at a great price. Thom and Leslie Helmick H.B. CA.

We stayed in this hotel in January 2011, and we were very lucky with our room. Despite being in the "main" building above the lobby, we had a partial ocean view which was fantastic to wake up to. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and it was a pleasure to stay there. The hotel is across from the Coconut Marketplace, which is a small shopping mall with different shops and small eateries. It's also a short walk from some other restaurants to the south. The location and price cannot be beat for what you're getting!

I stayed here in Aug 2012 with 6 other members of my family for 5 nights. The hotel is clean, very well maintained and the staff are fantastic, very helpful, talkative and know the local area very well.

The rooms are well equipped and are very comfortable & clean. The wi-fi was a little troublesome but we got round this by using the open access wi-fi in the reception area, which was only a short walk from our room. The hotel grounds are amazing full of lots of different flowers, trees and wildlife and is also located right next to the beach. Parking can be a little tricky if you arrive back late at night but the reception will give you a ticket to park on the mall parking lot right next door to the hotel parking area.

Outside the hotel there a couple of shops and a restaurant (I think it was called Eggberts) that we used only for breakfast that was reasonably priced and gave a varied enough choice to keep you happy for a few days.

The hotel is in a great base location for exploring and we saw most of the island during our 5 day visit. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Can't beat the price for staying directly on the beach. I stayed in a unit that was owned by a private owner. Although my unit was comfortable and had an amazing view, it was not clean. The pool and hot tub are extremely small and always crowded. The beach is very narrow but the property is directly on the beach. The hotel is located in the congested part of Kauai. I stayed at the north part of the island on a previous stay and found it a lot more peaceful and relaxing.

Aloha,

Received your Trip Advisor comments regarding your recent stay at Islander on the Beach.

Although you did rent from a private owner, I am sorry to read that the unit was not clean. We all expect to arrive to a unit that is clean with freshly laundered bed linens and towels. The unit clean as we unpack and get ready for the stay that we have been anticipating for awhile.

Should you find yourself coming back to Kauai, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Have a great Spring Season...

With warmest aloha,

This is a surprisingly nice hotel for the price. Ocean front room is a must to see and hear the waves pounding the shore. Location is very good in the Coconut Market compound which has some nice stores and small restaurants within short walking distance. Staff is good and maintenance is friendly. They only have queen beds, but also a pullout couch if needed.

Room Tip: Get ocean front room that is full on to the waves, not angled.
