We were here for only two nights in February during the busy winter season. We found the hotel centrally located for what we wanted to do and see while on Kauai. Our room was not yet ready when we arrived early, but helpful staff unlocked a bathroom for our use and gave good advice for our afternoon drive and dinner options. The room was clean and while not fancy, was fairly large with an updated bathroom. The view from the room is just amazing, and far more affordable than other oceanfront hotels. In addition to beach chairs and towels, we were offered use of a cooler which came in very handy. We had planned a very long day exploring Waimea canyon followed by a sunset dinner cruise, and the borrowed cooler allowed us to pack our own drinks and picnic lunch. Late checkout was not available for our departure, and we didn't need to be at the airport until after 2pm. Staff graciously allowed us use of the bathroom again to change into clothing for the journey back to colder weather, and we enjoyed a last Hawaii poke lunch on the lanai overlooking the water.
If you're looking for a fancy resort, this isn't it. But if you want a taste of "old Hawaii" (getting harder to find) from folks who bend over backwards to make your experience enjoyable I'd highly recommend the Coral Reef.More
