We recently stayed at Coral Reef and thanks to Kanoe and their Team who are very customer driven we enjoyed our stay and were able to get reservations to events and directions around the island. They care about the Guest.
This is a smaller property that is more intimate and the location is great right on the 7 mile bike/walking path along the Coconut Coast. They have bikes and beach towels boogie boards etc. The breakfast is fine to start the day.
The room are recently updated with nice comfortable décor.
The Restaurant just a few steps North of the Hotel is great food, reasonable pricing, great drinks.
Definitely a recommendation for a Vacation to Kauai.

After making reservations 2 months in advance my sister and I arrived, with a confirmation letter, to find that we had no room! The desk clerk had an attitude problem and we RELUCTANTLY took "the last room". One queen bed for the two of us....not quite an ideal situation. Talk about Upset! We were to be moved to "our" room the next day. We went to Duke's for appetizers and WINE and upon returning the Manager suggests we take the 2 bedroom suite for the night. OK. Did the desk clerk not have the authority to suggest That to us or did he think that we couldn't afford it??? And then......our room that we had a confirmed reservation for on the Second Floor turned into a room on the first floor! Two women traveling together don't like a lower floor for safety reasons and this hotel was right on the water. We like to hear the surf, the palms rustling and the storms. The explanation of "we can't guarantee a particular room" when we had a letter saying yes we did was a total turn off! We wanted to avoid the major hotels on this trip for more of the laid back Kauai experience. Hayatt, we'll see you next time!
I do have to credit the Coral Reef with location, economy and the actual room in the renovated building was quite nice. The older building need alot of renovation. The reviews that I read were encouraging..........what happened Coral Reef ??????

Room Tip: Good luck with THAT.

The Hotel Coral Reef has a gorgeous ocean front view and very comfortable rooms. The beds are great and the private outdoor patio off the room really added to the experience. Gracious hospitality from the staff, George was especially helpful and friendly. Gorgeous waterfall swimming pool and lovely landscaping. Good location for on foot exploring...Lydegate beach has an 8 mile oceanfront walking trail that goes right by the hotel and there are lots of places to walk to swim, grab a bite, find a convenience store, shop, etc. Good location for home base if you rent a car and want to explore the island as it is right on the main road. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Not all rooms have fridges and microwaves so ask when making reservation.

After looking at lots of reviews on trip advisor decided to stay at Coral Reef and we are so pleased we did. Its a small hotel and usually we stay in much larger resorts. This place is beautiful. Had a king room with ocean view stayed for 5 nights. Room was very nice and the view was stunning. Joseph and staff were so nice, very friendly and really helpful. We are non drivers, this hotel was ideal town centre was within walking distance, walked the path in front of the hotel along the beach it was beautiful scenery. Local bus stops right outside the hotel takes you wherever you want for $2. Did the helicopter trip on Joseph's recommendation and it was amazing. This was our first time to Kauai and we loved it, such a beautiful island. Hope to return to Kauai and the Coral Reef.

Room Tip: If you can choose ocean view room worth the extra.

A small, quiet hotel with great ocean view. The rooms are nice and clean, they offer good breakfast and free wifi. The pool is good and it's open until 8pm. The staff is really nice, they help you arrange any kind of activities, find the best deals for you and if you have any special request to your room, they do it without any problem.
