“Spiritual place”
Reviewed November 27, 2013

Learned only a bit about Hinduism. It was more about seeing the location and the facility. Very low key, calm, spiritual feel. They have a large section of land that overlooks the Wailua River which flows from rainy Wai'ale'ale Mountain. One temple completed, another under construction. Public tour by reservation only. Nice gift shop.

“I was a little disappointed”
Reviewed November 12, 2013

Went here because of all the reviews on the website. There was a beautiful large tree where you could meditate and we liked that the most. There wasn't really that much to see. We ended up going for a hike that was past this place down the road, which we really enjoyed. I don't think I would go back or make a special stop here my next time in Kauai.

“Beautiful Monastery”

Off the beaten path, up the valley with gorgeous views, serene gardens and temple. A peaceful place to spend a few hours.

“A touch of Spirituality, Eastern religion style in Paradise!”
Reviewed October 27, 2013

An oasis for spiritual reflection, this monastery is well off the beaten path and not easy to find, but well worth a trip. Best is being able to take a tour (they take place about once per week but are often overbooked - check the website; parking is their problem, so you can go, even if they are overbooked, if you can get someone to drop you off @ 9 o'clock sharp! UNLIKE the rest of Kaua'i, the Hindu Monastery is punctual...!), but if you can't do that, then just spend a few minutes in the visitors' garden & make an offering to the shrine to Ghanesh, elephant-deity and Remover of Obstacles...

Really enjoyed the journey...stop at the waterfalls along the way and then experience the tranquility if the monastery. Don't forget to drive up to the Rudraksh forest!
