“Beautiful luau”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2014 via mobile

Beautiful gardens, great show. The food was good - nothing I could really rave about though. The service was great and the Mai tais and open bar were awesome. We went with a large group and it was fun to have us all together to do this!

“Wow, what a trip!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2014

Read about Smith's here on Tripadvisor, so decided to try it. Concierge was disappointed we weren't going to someplace else but it is worth it. It is unlike any other Luau you go to. First you drive in and you see lakes and buildings and tons of animals. Peacocks, chickens, goats etc. Then the meal was very good - normal luau fare. Then a huge amphitheatre with water for the performance. Great light show and special effects. Kind of like Disney in the jungle. It was great.

“Nice Luau experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 22, 2014

We have been to one other luau many years ago, and I remembered that I didn't really like the food, so I was leery but this was included in our trip. It was a different experience from the first one I went to.

There was a tram ride of the grounds in the beginning. It was pleasant, but left quite a bit of time to kill before the meal was served. Once we went in to the tables to eat, everything ran very smoothly. Beer, wine, and liquor was included during the meal. We were surprised by how many people were there, being served. Again, it went very smoothly.

The pork was a bit salty but overall the food was excellent. I especially enjoyed the sweet sour Mahi Mahi. The boys liked the teriyaki beef. My family thought the coconut cake was very good and moist.

Afterward we headed to the dance/entertainment portion. It felt like there was a lot of time for the transition from the meal to the entertainment, but everyone got to use the facilities. The dance dragged on a bit, compared to the luau I had seen previously, but I get the impression this is entirely a family establishment (meaning employees and entertainers) so they were younger and less professional than the other one.

Overall, a very nice experience with good food and beautiful grounds. The Smith family is to be commended on their family tradition.

“Always a great meal and show!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 20, 2014

I like the Smith's luau because of the tour of their grounds and the outdoor Imu ceremony. Who wants to go to a luau at a hotel when you can be on a Hawaiian family's grounds? I love the teriyaki beef and kalua pork and they make sure you get plenty to eat.

“Campy & Fun”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2014

We had been told this is the best luau in the islands and were not disappointed. Everything is well-coordinated and the staff is friendly. There was a campy 60-ish feeling to the night, which we loved. Food was a bit salty, but there was a nice spread of authentic Hawaiian fare. (Finally tasted poi!) Note: this is not a quiet night on the plantation. You will be seated with hundreds of people, but again, it is well-organized. The show afterwards is live (we had thought it was canned and were surprised when the musicians were spot-lighted.) Nice to see hula dancers of all shapes, ages and sizes. Fun evening.
