On our last night in Kapaa, we stopped in for dinner at Olympic Cafe. The view was nice, the ahi sandwiches we had were ok, but the mixed drinks were disappointing. We had a mai tai and a blue Kauaian. After having perfect mai tais at Royal Hawaiian on Oahu for $12, we expected these $10 drinks to at least be close, but they were mostly juice with no taste of rum. My husband took his drink up to the bar and told them there was no rum in his drink. He asked for them to please add some, which the bartender did, but we were surprised to see an additional charge of $6.50 for the additional rum. So now his small mostly-juice-drink was almost $17! We travel often and found this charge (without our prior knowledge of it) to be bad customer service. Royal Hawaiian on Oahu (which, by the way, makes the best mai tais in the islands) would never do something like this, knowing that if a customer is happy with their first drink, they very well may order a second. Olympic Cafe, unfortunately, doesn't appear to have concerns about customer satisfaction, and, therefore, will not be getting our business again.

We enjoyed a great lunch at Olympic Cafe while on our trip to Kauai. The island restaurants are so expensive, so it's hard to find great portion sizes, good food, and affordable. Olympic cafe hits on all notes. My Turkey Club Deluxe(?) was HUGE. I ended up taking half of it back to the condo. Beer prices are steep on the island as well....these guys have $ 3.75 pints (Domestic), which is a good price. I think you'll enjoy stopping in for a cold one!

Watched NFL game on Sunday in this open air cafe/bar. Decent mountain views, nice trade wind to keep the place cool.

Decent service, had to wait a bit for drink refills and to get our check and they were not very busy. Waitress was friendly and pleasant.

Husband had a burger. It was huge, well seasoned but a bit dry. Came with a heaping plate of waffle fries. Decent price for the island at $10. I had Ahi Tuna sandwhich, huge piece of Ahi (hung over the bun), perfectly cooked, nicely seasoned with fries for $13. All in all a good meal with an island setting and a place to watch the game.

FYI plenty of parking behind the building where the stairs are up to cafe!

We ate here twice while visiting Kauai and enjoyed it both times. The burger I had the first time was very good and the fish tacos the next time were also good. The fish tacos were served with a grilled banana that was EXCELLENT! My wife had a grilled sandwich with tomato, cheese and pesto sauce that was also very good! The high top tables overlooking the street are fun and the cross winds in early September made for a great, relaxing dining experience. Service was spotty with the first waiter being very helpful and the second, not so much. We would definitely return.

Our first meal in Kapaa was here. The portions were huge. We also got take out during our stay. Nice little open air cafe. Nothing fancy.
