We thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent riding on the Kauai Path. We rented bikes in Kapa'a and traveled north to the end of the path (near Donkey Beach). The path runs along, but above, the shoreline, offering beautiful views. There are a multitude of places you can stop for photos and even some picnic shelters if you want to rest or relax. There is almost no traffic to contend with, aside from one intersection in Kapa'a and a couple of beach parking lot crossings, making it ideal for families with children. We rented a "co-pilot" bike attachment for my youngest -- while the path is not difficult, I was not sure she was ready for the 4+ mile round trip. The path has gentle hills and was not crowded when we visited. When you're done, explore the funky and eclectic shops and restaurants in Kapa'a.
