“Excellent, caring staff w/ great location ...”
Reviewed December 18, 2012

I recently had the misfortune to be flooded out of my room when the water heater in an adjoining long-term resident's room imploded in the middle of the night. Mr. Douponce, the Resort GM, went above and beyond resolving the emergency and getting me other accommodations for the remainder of my stay, even though not required to do so.

The friendliness and helpful assistance of other staff made my stay enjoyable, especially Steve Carvalho, the Maintenance Mgr, who responds promptly and professionally to guest concerns. Front Desk staff were very helpful, always with a smile regardless of the request.

The resort is conveniently located, adjoining the Coconut Marketplace, the best restaurant on the island (IMHO, the Hukilau Lanai), and a short walk to Trees Lounge with live music six nights a week. Both major food stores are a short walk away. For bike enthusiasts like me, the resort's convenient location to the East Side's Multi-Use Path was a sweet bonus.

Stay there -- it's a value and well worth seeking out.

Room Tip: Upstairs units are quieter.

Our suite was perfect for our child-free vacation. It was modest luxury; some of the furnishings were a little outdated style-wise but it was clear that updates were occurring (some furniture was brand new). We weren't interested in super luxurious since we weren't in the room during the day anyway (out at the beaches, hiking, tubing the irrigation ditches, etc.). The staff was very accommodating and friendly, having no problem with us adding a guest at the last minute (rooms can take up to 6 people and the cost is per suite, not person).

We used the kitchen to have breakfast every morning plus a few snacks and dinners.

The beds and pull out sofa were all very comfortable.

Having the DVD/Blue-Ray movie library was an unexpected highlight--we watched Jurassic Park 1 and 2 just for fun at night since they were filmed in Kauai.

Another great thing is that the spas were actually HOT, not luke warm as at most hotels. This was great for our muscles after a full day of hiking on the Na Pali Coast.

We will definitely be staying here again next time we visit (with our kids in tow!).

Room Tip: Both floors (ground the second) offer nice views. We were on the ground floor facing the road but th...

From the moment I arrived I felt right at home. The staff is warm, friendly, and knowledgeable about the island, the to see, and to avoid. My room was ideally located facing the beach and close enough to hear the waves at night. The suite comes with a kitchen, dining area, living room, bedroom, and bathroom - everything you need to feel like you are not a tourist but a local. What's nice is this is not a large resort where you never leave the property. This is a well maintained condo complex with a hotel feel that is perfect for couples and families that want to take in the sights and adventures of the island. The Suites are perfectly located midway on the island where you can venture south and hit the swimming beaches of Poipu within 20 minutes, or head north to Hanalei in 30 minutes. Everything I needed was in walking distance: Grocery store, shaved ice, restaurants, yoga classes, and spa. The best treat was coming back to the room after a day at the beach or hiking to find my room had been cleaned and all my towels had been replenished. It's the little touches that mean a lot. The last thing you want is a hotel room full of wet towels. This is a great place to stay - I can't wait to come back.

Room Tip: Nice to have beach facing room on the end of the building.

We had a great time and I have to say the staff were all exceptional - so friendly and helpful. I would name names but there's not a one who doesn't deserve mention. The condo was very convenient for our late-night arrival at Lihue airport. It was attractive, comfortable and well equipped; how often does a rental place even have a bread knife and a blender? There were a couple of maintenance problems that were fixed as soon as we mentioned them; when we had a problem with a DVD that we borrowed free from the front desk late on Saturday, they replaced the DVD player on Sunday morning. They need to know there's a problem before they can fix it, but the response is very swift
We were particularly impressed by the strong and free Wifi signal.
We like to walk, rather than drive, so one drawback is that it was hard to walk anywhere but to the beach and to a few places nearby. However the government is working on making the island more pedestrian friendly by putting in more walking paths. This hotel is in a good location for day trips to anywhere on Kauai. We'll stay there again. You can get one King bed or two smaller beds, but all units appear to be one-bedroom, which is another drawback for us (who have older children), tho not for everyone. No dishwasher.
We didn't swim much as we were there in December, a month of heavy seas. The hotel pools are not heated, so the water can be cold on those rare cool days. Note: there is a small farmers' market next door at Coconut Grove on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9 am-noon. We chose fresh local pineapple, passion fruit and a variety of different kinds of bananas at this market. Unfortunately this market was not on the helpful list of farmers' markets that the hotel gave us when we checked in. The staff gave us good information on places to go, things to do and how to tell if local fruit is at its peak. All in all, we lost our heart to Kauai and Plantation Hale (pronounced "Ha-le", it means "house".).

The price was right and it was perfect for me. The staff was nice. The room was huge. I thought it would be small but there was a bedroom with 2 beds, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a living room. It was awesome! You definitely get your money's worth. The beach across the street was nice too
