My wife and I have stayed at true plantation hale several times over the last several years. We have always thought it was a great value in a great location, but its even better now than ever.

Best Western no longer manages the property. It's now managed by Outrigger and along with it comes newly remodeled bathrooms, upgraded pool and jacuzzi, and lower prices.

Now...let's make sure you have the right perspective on this property: It is a hundred yards or so from the beach. It is along a busy highway, so traffic can be annoying if you are in the back of the property. And the kitchens in each suite are very basic with cheap appliances and dish ware straight out of walmart. So if you want deluxe, then you might want to rent a premium condo or head up the highway to Princeville where you'll have plenty of options. But for us, whew go to Hawaii, it's for the beaches, the sights, the food, and not for us to hang out in the room. We want someplace that is convenient, clean, well managed, with a nice pool, and the ability to cook a meal now and then to save some money. Plantation Hale has all this and more.

When we stayed in February, we stayed in a room that faced the ocean, was clean and comfortable, and was WELL under $100 a night. To me, that makes it the best value on the island. Add then there is Patti, the day manager who exemplifies the notion of Aloha...friendly, helpful, and a delight to do business with.

Overall, you will be very hard -pressed to find a better value anywhere in Hawaii... We have paid MUCH more for a LOT less than what the Plantation Hale offers.

Bottom line:we look forward to returning to this property as soon as can!!!

I lodged 14 hikers from the Adirondack Mountain Club and found the Planation Hale to be the best touring location on the Island, priced at an exceptional value. We will be back next year with another group. Besides the location, being just steps from the ocean, having full kitchens and being within walking distance to a full service grocery store were also big advantages to this facility.

We needed a place to stay for a 2 nights before our timeshare weeks started, so I decided to give this place a try. Definately a good value at $80/night (plus about $11/night taxes and fees) for a 1 bedroom condo. This property is the former Best Western Plantation Hale. I like the east side location for it's easy access north or south. The grounds are nice, although somewhat noisy being by the highway. The pools are nicely landscaped. The condos are somewhat dated---popcorn ceilings, older glass shower doors on the tub, older cabinets. But they have spruced it up a bit with nice counter tops and nice accessories and they had free wi-fi. It also had a unique air conditioning system---the window unit was in the livingroom, but there was a corner counter above it and a vent under it that captured half of the air and was diverted through the wall and into the bedroom. My major complaint is when I made the reservations about 10 months ago, i requested a king bed. They never mentioned that could be a problem. But we ended up with 2 double beds. When I questioned that, they said they only have 15 king beds. If I had known that, I probably wouldn't have kept those reservations and is the main reason why I won't reserve there again. They also charge daily for the inroom safe and have no dishwasher or washer/dryer, but since we were only there for 2 nights that wasn't an issue. They apparently do have daily maid service, though. I would recommend this place to someone who is on a budget and who doesn't mind having 2 beds in the bedroom.

This hotel is probably a reconverted time share. Nice and roomy. Great location on the way to Princeville, but only 7 miles from the airport. Very reasonable rate for Hawaii. Right across a side street to the Coconut Market, which had places to eat, and ice cream shoppe, and some of the least expensive shopping we found. Room was very nice, but had a musty odor. Would recommend they make sure each and every room gets aired out. Housekeeper had left fresh ice in the freezer, along with a full bag. They had an outdoor checkin, which had a computer for guest use.

We just returned from a week on Kauai with a stay at the Plantation Hale. Usually we rent a home while on the Islands but were unable to book at our favorite one due to time constraints. Alas, our booking at the Plantation Hale turned out to be a wonderful choice.
Patti from the front desk was super helpful with our booking, the rates are very good and we were able to book a unit for both my husband and I and were able to surprise our two boys (age 22 and 11) with a suite of their own. Patti was able to get one right across the hall from ours. The units were super clean, self service laundry is nearby on each of the sections, parking is handy, our units had a kitchen which made making simple meals easy, had ceiling fans and air con for the balmier nights. The property is well managed by the Best Western group as we found it to be secure and clean for a good price.
We booked via telephone and had an email confirmation in no time. If you can call in advance, they also may be able to secure a car rental for you at a good rate. They also offer AAA discounts. Service and property was a thumbs up from us.
There is a nice shopping centre to pick up goods for a home made meal (breakfast or late night snack). As we have been to Kauai before we headed off to our destinations promptly.
Hanapepe (Salt Pond Beach Park), kayaking on the Wailua River , Allerton Gardens in Poipu and wave watching in Hanalei. Try Island Taco for a fabulous lunch - super cost efficient, tasty and good service. Nice choices also in old Koloa town and Poipu for dinner.
