We stayed at the Plantation Hale for 5 nights. It was our first experience in Hawaii and it was wonderful.
The grounds are pleasantly manicured and well kept. The location is extremely convenient, 20 minutes from the airport, 100 yards from the beach, a 2 minute walk to well-priced shopping at the Coconut Marketplace and right along Kauai's highway. The rooms are large, well-equipped and clean. The kitchen comes with more amenities than you'll ever need.
Unfortunately, the sofa bed had stained sheets on it and we did have to share our room with three or four cockroaches who lived in the cupboard with the sofa bed linens… We understand that cockroaches come along with living in such a tropical climate, and they were small so they didn’t bother us much.
If you're looking for luxury, look elsewhere. Plantation Hale is a hotel for budget minded travelers and it is something you would expect for paying less than $100 a night. All in all though, our stay was pleasant. We stayed at the Hale for about $85 a night, and it was a total steal... By far, the best deal we found.More
