I think I was spoiled by the Chicken in a Barrel at Hanalei experience. The chicken at Kapaa was as good as Hanalei, but the ribs were way better at Hanalei where they were very smoky tasting and were falling-off-the-bone tender. That difference alone plus the fact that Kapaa's is literally a roadside stand, as in, a few feet from the road with cars rushing by making conversation a chore. It's possible the ribs were just not spot on for that particular evening (we did arrive within minutes of closing). If you order there, best to order "to go" and go eat by the beach or somewhere. By the way, the folks behind the counter, just like at Hanalei, were very friendly.
