We made reservations for dinner to knowing much other than what had been reviewed on Trip Advisor. The dinner was excellent! We had a later reservation and arrived earlier thinking we might have a drink in the bar. The bar is very small and was full in the middle of the week. A good sign we thought. We grabbed a drink and walked around the property. We found a hammock and lounged by the moonlight waiting for our table. A perfect evening concluded with wonderful dinner and great service. We highly recommend this location.

With a husband who really doesn't like goat cheese, I was stunned when we found ourselves moaning with delight over the lobster and goat cheese wontons. The Wally salad was good but we were still yakking about how good the wontons were. Then came the mixed seafood platter - absolutely delicious! Our waiter suggested we share and when the plates came out we agreed - the kitchen plated our single entrée such that there was just the right amount of food. The service was impeccable. High end restaurant, moderate prices, delicious food, excellent service. Reservations truly required, even our concierge couldn't help so we made reservations a day ahead. Recommended by locals.

Fantastic food, great service and a wonderful space with a great fresh air breeze. Nice atmosphere, but you'd still feel comfortable in island attire.

We loved this place. We were on Kauai to celebrate our 5th anniversary, and had reserved a table in advance stating so on Open Table. They gave us what was probably the best table in the house - on the lanai, at the end, so we were away from people but had a nice garden / tiki torch view of the hotel (we didn't stay at this hotel, just ate dinner here). The ambiance was excellent, the service was great, and more than one staff member came by to wish us a happy anniversary. We had the lobster & goat cheese wontons and the lobster curry bisque soup as appetizers - YUM on both. He had Ono and I had the Ahi fresh catches - wonderfully prepared and served with fresh local salads.

They gave us a to-go box with lovely chocolates on our way out. Very nice experience. We live in Chicago so have pretty high standards for food, and Hukilau Lanai was definitely one of the better meals we've had in Hawaii.

This was our 4th trip to Kauai (we go to HI every year) and our second visit to the Hukilau Lanai. It was every bit as marvelous and the first time. First of all, you can't beat the atmosphere, open air dining overlooking an amazing garden and even the ocean if its still light out. In the background there is usually a couple playing Hawaiin music. The service is impeccable, they are there when you need them, but not bothersome. The menu is Hawaiian /American - macadamia nut chicken, fresh fish that changes with what has just been caught and served with sides of local products and produce.

The wine list is expansive, and for dessert the Lilikoi (passionfruit) coconut tart is exceptional.

All in all, this conveniently located restaurant (next to the Coconut Marketplace in Kapaa) has everything you could possibly want for an awesome dinner out.

They are closed on Mondays and for lunch but open for dinner at 5 P.M. Reservations are a must, in fact we found it necessary to call a few days ahead especially on weekends.
