“Great 1 bedrooms, not impressed with the studio”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 28, 2012

I stayed in both the 1 bedroom suites and the studio and found them to both be comfortable but the 1 bedroom suites are much better. The suites were clean and the 1 bedrooms have really large bathrooms. This is a great relaxing resort for families, but couples may not enjoy the atmosphere. The pool is nice, but small so if there are kids playing in the pool you may not be able to escape the splashes. This didnt really bother us but it may not be the best place for a romantic getaway. The beach and the location are really the only downfalls of this resort. The ocean is not swimmable and the beach area is rocky and covered with sticks and logs. The location is also far from the best beaches in kauai, but if you have a rental car (which everyone should have on kauai!) its not a huge problem. Overall, the staff were nice, the price was relatively good, and the 1 bedroom suites had everything you need.

Room Tip: go for the 1 bedrooms dont bother with the studios

I found that this was a beautiful place to stay on my first trip to Kauai. It had very nice suites with a garden and side view of thee ocean. The pool has a cascading waterfall with refreshing water. The hot tub was relaxing after a long day of sightseeing. The gardens here are full of fragrant flowers. A cute bird that looks like a cardinal (red head with a white and black body) visited me on the balcony, The sound of the waves pounding the shore was like a lullaby cause the sound made it easy to fall asleep. This resort is located next to the Coconut Marketplace, which is a nice place to do some souvenir or clothing shopping. I would recommend this to others as a very nice place to stay.

Came here for my 30th birthday and had a great time! The resort was pretty clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Only ate at the hotel restaurant the last night and wish we had gone before. The food was amazing! Usual timeshare presentation. Try not to get roped into that. Not easy to find driving from the airport at night but we eventually found it. The street signs for the turn off are tiny. Safeway supermarket pretty closely so we bought supplies from there a few times. Good selection of food especially healthy stuff. Best beach is Lydgate State Park. Relatively secluded and beautiful! Tunnels beach up north is breath taking. All around great trip.

We were just at The Beach Boy from April 6-15, 2012. We had a wonderful stay at the beautifully kept Beach Boy. The grounds were gorgeous and well maintained, the pool was inviting and clean, there was a hot-tub (could have been a bit warmer) and the resort is ocean front. Our third floor room had a separate bedroom with a very comfortable king sized bed. We slept wonderfully every night...windows open, ceiling fan on, listening to the ocean and feeling the breeze....heaven! There was a huge bathroom with double sinks, a stackable washer/dryer (with laundry detergent provided), a large full kitchen with everything you'd need (coffee and filters as well) including a breakfast table and 4 chairs. Finally, there was a lovely, open living room space. The lanai was a bit shallow/short but still was a nice place for relaxing. It would have been nice if the lanai had lights, so we could stay outside longer in the evenings. We did decide to rent a car (best bet, at least for a few days) and the resort offered free parking near our room. The staff was incredibly nice, helpful and accommodating. The concierge got us all set up with a week's worth of activities within an hour.....and then we were done planning and paying for anything the rest of the week. That was really nice and very convenient. They resort is just across the street from little shops and a cute sundries shop that has snacks, sunscreen, drinks, etc. It’s a bit pricey, so if you can head to Safeway down the road, it will be cheaper. The biggest downside was the cold, cloudy, rainy weather. Several people said that Kapaa (where The Beach Boy is located) is the “rainy side”…but other people disagreed. It was a bit frustrating as our first 3 days were cold and rainy…but if you have a car, we also realized that you can hop in it and just drive to a sunnier location for the afternoon! ☺ We hope we can find the time to stay at The Beach Boy again!

Room Tip: We arrived early and decided to wait for a third floor (top floor) room away from the pool. They sai...

We had a 3 night stay here March 4,5, & 6 2012.
We typically stay in Hanalei for a few nights then move on to Poipu for the remainder of our stay, but this year after making our reservations we had 2 extra nights upon arrival and decided to stay in the centrally located area of the island. This resort is right at the Coconut Market place, right on the ocean, although it is not a great swimming beach, so we chose it. We were not disappointed as the air conditioned condo units were immaculate and very comfortable. Unfortunately that week was the week they had torrential rains, hail, flooding, roads out and bridge closures to Hanalei. Being near the coconut marketplace and Kapaa was a blessing in disguise since these were areas we could actually get to with all the road closures. We had planned on staying just 2 nights and had a second floor oceanview 1BR / 1bath unit. It was perfect. We asked to extend since we were not able to get to Hanalei and they were able to accommodate us by moving us to a 2 BR Unit on the night of the 6th. This was on the 3rd floor in another building and was just as nice if not nicer. We did not need the extra bedroom, but it also had a second bathroom which does not hurt. Both rooms were so quiet that we could not even hear the tremendous rains and wind with all doors closed. Made for great sleeping. It had air conditioning which a lot of condos on the island do not have. The grounds were very nice when the rain subsided, you are able to walk along the not so sandy beach, plus we had a great dinner at their Hukilau Lanai restaurant on the night of the 6th celebrating a Birthday. The hotel staff were all helpful and smiling all the time. I would recommend staying here if you want to be central to the whole island, or to just grab a few nights when arriving or before leaving. The rates were very reasonable especially in comparison to the rest of the island, and the rooms were probably the nicest we had out of all of our lodgings on the trip. If this were an oceanfront in the Poipu area they would probably get 3 times the rate...it is that nice.
I believe they are a timeshare and at check-in we were asked once if we were interested in a presentation, given a nice welcome bag and never bothered again when we told them we were not interested.

Room Tip: 3rd floor Oceanview. 2Br if you need the extra bedroom or extra bathroom. No elevators, so you need...
