Kayak Wailua came highly recommended by friends. And we will continue to recommend it!
Kayak Wailua starts off with a van ride to the river. You can chose single, double or triple kayaks. Dry bags and coolers are provided - you will get wet! It is a two mile kayak down the river to get to the trailhead. My husband and I have never kayaked but it was easy enough to get the hang of. It started pouring as we were kayaking but with all the water being splashed up from our paddles, we were wet no matter what!
Once WE GOT TO the trail our guide (Web - he was awesome!) led the way. You literally hike through the jungle. **THEY ARE SERIOUS WHEN THEY SAY WEAR STRAP ON SHOES!!!** It can get very muddy and my husband and two other guys slipped and fell along the way. Part of the problem is you need to wear shoes that can get wet (so my husband and I both wore water shoes) but then those shoes are used to hike a mile (water shoes are not made for that!) I'm not sure what the remedy is for that... The hike had some great views.
Once we got the waterfall, we were able to take some time to eat and swim. The water was very cold but there were many brave souls! We then hiked back to our kayaks.
