We ate at this restaurant while we stayed at the Hyatt in Poipu. This was one of the best meals we had in Kauai. The hostess/owner, Jerry, is from New York - she has attitude, but it made us feel right at home. The idea that the restaurant is just the "best Italian food on Kauai" doesn't do it justice - we'd be happy if we had Pomodoro near where we live on the mainland. The house wines are extremely good and well-priced; the sauces were really delicious; and all of the courses we had were very, very good. Ok, it's upstairs from a Domino's Pizza, and it doesn't have the fancy atmosphere of some some other places on the southern side of the island - but we still found it lovely and a wonderful meal. Not to be missed!

Pomodoro's has the best Italian food on the island. My wife and I have enjoyed the great food and outstanding service, on our last two trips to Kauai - the most recent in April 2006. I have never had better Italian food anywhere, and I have dined at some of the best Italian restaurants in Chicago. The setting is very casual, almost like home, yet the service and atmosphere would be similar to an upscale establishment. Prices are extremely reasonable for the value you receive. Do yourself a favor and don't miss this restaurant!

I have been to the restaurants the owners have had for many years. The original one in Lihue got knocked out in a hurricane in the 90's and I searched for a while to find its replacement. I'm always glad I tracked it down.

The owner actually remembers me quite often, even year to year, not just my multiple visits during my stay. Although it's a little cramped, I have always had a great experience here, with both the food and the service.

I try to sample a selection of reastaurants each time I visit, and this one is at the top of my "fun without a view" list.

The waitstaff was a little surly at first, but warmed up after awhile and was prompt and friendly. The manicotti was outstanding, and the lasagna was pretty good. The tiramisu is yummy and the cannoli was out of this world. The prices are reasonable. Overall, a good place for hungry, budget-conscious diners.
