Lilikoi Chiffon Pie from Wong's (it's also a bakery) is a MUST for us every trip. Whole pie, fresh or frozen $14.00. Wong’s is famous for the pie, we got a frozen one for dessert when we would have dinner with friends on Tuesday, Sept 13th. As I was paying for the pie, I noticed Jackie Wong’s Homemade Butter Mochi, why not?!? OMG, this stuff is good! 5 stars

Wong’s (and attached bakery) in Hanapepe – old favorite for Lilikoi Chiffon Pie. Whole pie fresh or frozen, $14.00 – they have other pies too and some fresh baked item like this gooey banana bread, to die for! This is some good stuff. I promised to bring the pie to a picnic – BIG HIT!!!! You can get just a slice too, but having a whole pie is much better….5 stars

My husband and I just got back from a 2 week trip to Kauai. Our friend has to stop into Wong's every time he visits Poipu..(which is every year) This was our first time to Kauai and loved it, BUT, I would not recommend Wong's Rest. We come from Massachusetts and we eat Chinese food regularly. Found the beef to be slimey and the lo-mein very dry. The orange chicken was ok. Yes, the meal is cheap. but you get what you pay for. Sorry, I would not recommend Wong's. Massachusetts

We stopped at this very unpretentious restaurant on our way back to Poipu after hiking to Pilea Peak. We were very surprised. Don’t expect white tablecloths and fine service (its cafeteria style except for special occasions). But the Chinese food was superb. Full platters are $6-7 and include rice, noodles and a main dish. I had the beef with broccoli and the broccoli was crisp, meat very tender with not too much oil. Portions were generous. They had about 10 different main dishes and you also could order special items like duck, etc. They also have many pastry desserts, pies and cakes. My wife liked the passion fruit pie.

I guess the biggest compliment that this restaurant could have is that there was a very steady stream of locals getting take-out on their way home from work.

Stop here if you want good Chinese food, fast service, and excellent price (about a third of what you would spend at Hanapepe’s gourmet restaurants).
