“Best zipline adventure”
Reviewed August 16, 2011

We went on Backcountry Adventure zipline trip. It was fantastic!! The guides, BJ, Alohi and Chris (Bud Bundy) made it so much fun!! They were friendly and very professional. We enjoyed every minute of the the adventure. 7 lines and lots of laughs and even a few joyful screams...(I only managed 1 good landing but BJ was always there to catch me...LOL If you get a chance it is so worth it to go sailing through the jungle with them.

“OK Thing to Do - But Use Your Money on Something Else”
Reviewed August 8, 2011

I saw something about this tubing on the Travel Channel sometime ago, so I had it in the back of my mind to do this. I tried to make reservations via internet- but everything was booked up for several weeks during our stay. I called them directly when I was in Kauai, and asked to be put on a waiting list with just about anytime available. Sure enough, they called and were able to work us in. The staff was very friendly. Tanner was our guide and he was wonderful. Although the tubing adventure states is will last 3 hours, the actually tubing portion in the water is only about 45 minutes. The tubing is NOT like a traditional water park lazy river. It is VERY calm, and you really can't see any scenery while your in the tube. The rest of the time is spent "getting to the inlet spot" via vehicle, and lunch. The water was cold when you first got in, but it was very soothing. You definitely need to wear water shoes as you can not control your tube, and you will be pushed up against the wall of the ditch. (They rent them there if you don't have your own). The best part of the entire adventure was going through the tube tunnels, making sure your light is turned on from your hardhat. During the adventure, everyone will turn their lights off for a few minutes, and it was totally dark. That was the highlight of the entire trip. Also, you will get to know other people on this adventure. Since you can not control your tube, (and your not allowed to attach yourself to each other) you will not stay with your party. While is was a relaxing adventure, if you don't have a lot of time to do other activities, or your really wanting adventure, spend your money doing something else.

“One of the Highlights of our Trip!”
Reviewed August 7, 2011

Our family, including an 11 and 13 year old, went on the tubing trip during our recent vacation to Kauai. We had a really great time on the trip. Our tour guides were three enthusiastic and entertaining young women who worked hard to make the trip lighthearted and fun.

No worries about the tunnels - they were short and not scary at all. No one seemed to have any problems with them.

The trip was a bit pricy for a family of four, especially since the time in the tube was relatively short.

Overall, this was a unique experience that you could not have anywhere else.

“Tubing - Great Family Fun”
Reviewed August 5, 2011

I did this with my wife and teenage son. We had a great time.

Understand, if you are an adrenaline junkie looking for a fix, this is not what you are looking for. This is not white water rafting.

On the other hand, If you want to get outside, see some interesting scenery, get in the water, and have a little family oriented fun, then this is great. Think of it as a slightly pumped up lazy river dropped into the middle of the jungle. I saw people of all ages, from small children to grandparents, the day we went. Everyone seemed to be having fun.

The first part of the adventure is a drive up the valley. This is an opportunity to see some beautiful countryside that is not otherwise generally accessible to the public.

There is a stop at a nice location for viewing Wai’ale’ale (billed as one of the wettest spots on earth).

I little farther on and you reach the launch point. After a short safety briefing, they plop you on your tube and send you down the stream. Right away you see why they outfit you with gloves, helmet and headlamp. The stream is narrow, and more than half of the float is through irrigation tunnels bored through the soft volcanic rock. You careen along, bouncing off the walls and your neighbors.

At the end of the float, there is a little time for goofing around – splash your kids, try to stand on your tube, etc. Then they give you lunch and you are on your way back.

Most of the time you are in the shade or in the tunnels, so sunscreen is not really needed (and, in fact, discouraged as it may cause you to slip off your tube!).

Our guides were knowledgeable, friendly, and entertaining.

All in all, this is a very well-run operation. We had one minor issue with the lunch (they had an unusually large group, apparently, and ran out of some of the sandwich ingredients while we were in line). Without hesitation, they offered to buy us lunch when we got back. We ended up accepting a few free t-shirts instead and left happy. This is the kind of commitment to customer service that always deserves to be commended!

“Tubing family fun”
Reviewed August 3, 2011

This was a fun thing to do with the family. The guides were fun and tubing through the dark tunnels were a blast.
My only piece of advice is to spray mosquito repellant if you are sensitive to mosquito bites. I ended up getting bit alot and it ended up ruining half of my day. The guides will tell you that you don't need to spray.
