Clearly the best food and vibe we encountered during two weeks in Hanalei. A wonderful place with service matching excellent food.

“It's a little more upscale than many of the North Shore Places”
Reviewed March 7, 2013

There is a very nice bar area and good indoor and covered outdoor seating areas. While it’s billed as tapas styled restaurant and wine bar their plates are not really sized nor presented for sharing. Many of the dishes are effectively just a single serving appetizer. What we did order was excellent (Scallop, Braised Short Rib, Bruscheta and Pizzeta) in quality and taste. But only the Bruscheta and Pizzeta were served in a manner conducive to sharing. The price for a Single Scallop and small piece of Short Rib certainly does not suggest value. They do have very good wine and drink options.

“Still crazy after all these years”
Reviewed March 4, 2013

Still serving the best chow on the North Shore. Tapas on the patio, trippy mojito, great salads, best tapas include the lamb riblets, braised snapper and beef short ribs. Tomato bruschetta not that great; too much vinegar for my taste. Prifoterols a fun dessert, terrific strong coffee.
Unlike many Kauai spots you need to dress up a bit to go here, as in resort casual.
Very nice service both times we went.

“A Foodie's Dream.”

What a special place! Braised baby back ribs, local honeycomb, great drinks. A foodie's dream. Sitting at the chef's table a huge added bonus.

“Back again but not the same. . .”
Reviewed February 27, 2013

We were looking foward to eating at Bar Acuda on our return trip to Hanalei. Not as fabulous as last time. Very, Very noisy. Indifferent waiter. Average food. Last time the tapas were well spiced, varied and yummy. Green beans--a favorite previously---were fresh but not well spiced. Frittata was served cold and rather bland. Fish dish was excellent. Bread was very good. Next time will make an earlier reservation so we miss the noisy bar crowd. We will give them one more chance to impress us because they were so excellent last time.
