We have been to many luaus on Kauai and Mauai, and we enjoyed this one the best. It was smaller and more personal than some of the big ones, and the food was good, an uncommon finding at luaus.

My wife and I went to Tahiti Nui, based on seeing the Descendents. Unfortunately, so did every other tourist on Kauai! The first night Darryl and others (who were in the film) were playing and then on a Friday, another musician was drawing them in. Now it is a great atmosphere and everyone was having a good time, but it is loud. And we would have had to wait a while. So we opted to sit in the wine bar on both occasions (you can still hear some of the music through the walls) and were served by Pat, the bartender. A wonderful host who gave us many tips on Kauai. Good beer and wine selection, great cocktails. For cocktails we had a coconut margarita, a lilikoi margarita, a Lava Flow and Tahiti Nui’s MaiTai’s.

For dinner (2 nights) we had the Baby Back Ribs with Tahiti Nui's own BBQ sauce, the Macadamia nut panko crusted Ono with a coconut cilantro lime sauce, a seared Ahi Steak with a lemon pepper crust and a seared Ahi steak with a wasabi cream sauce. The fish were perfectly cooked (for us that means not overcooked and still moist, and, for fish like Ahi, rare.
Their 'Lava Flow' cocktail was so fresh tasting and the best of several we had.

We happened to take the advise of concierge and eat here. We came to the place and it looks like a little dive thats been there for 30+ years. Menu looked fine, but the food was so delicious. We had pizza (best ever tasted), loco moco and the brushetta salad. Not only did the food taste great, the presentation was beautiful and the pricing so right on. Not to mention the view from the outside seating area.

We went to Tahiti Nui because of the movie, The Descendants. The service was good, but the food was just ok. Nothing special. There are better choices in Kauai.

Food was good but the service was marginal. There was one server for the entire place, so we felt the effects. Probably would be a different experience with more help around.
