Food took a long time. Drinks are great. I think this place is good, we just had a waitress with a horrible attitude and terrible service. She wouldn't give us separate checks and the food took two hours. We asked three times nicely what was taking so long and after two hours she told us she lost our order. This waitress needs a new profession.

After reading the reviews, my wife and I were skeptical, but decided to give them a try. We usually out-cook even the better restaurants on our own, but continually try to give a place that has a great review a chance. In short, Tahiti Nui had incredible food and drinks! It sure didn't look from the outside like it had the potential to deliver amazing food, but WOW! were we wonderfully surprised. The macadamia nut crusted fish was the star of any similar dish we've had anywhere we've traveled in the world. The seafood plate that included a helping of the tastiest, most perfectly cooked prawn-sized shrimp that seemed too full for the price. And the Mai Tai's were outstanding...and I've bartended in some of the best places in So. Calif. that don't hold back on the creativity or amount of booze served by their bartenders. Incredible!

We were there for a 6 PM dinner (before they ran out of popular items I'd guess by reading other reviews) so I can't speak for other times of day. The live music was professional and the service staff were wonderful...and, yes, we sat out on the deck without any pressure to order anything, with a line to get in the place.

To sum it up, after 2 weeks trying everything on Kauai we could, we almost drove up from Poipu on our last night just to spend the evening at Tahiti Nui again, but regretfully tried Duke's instead, hearing it served the best food on the island. Nope, Tahiti Nui wins hand down over the Grand Hyatt (Luau or either of their restaurants), the Beach Club, Dukes, or any in the books you read.

Thank you all at Tahiti Nui! We'll be back and bringing a crowd.

Have one of their 50 year old recipe Mai Tai's, maybe one of the best on the island! Fun place to have a drink sitting on the front porch watching time go by. Very friendly service by mostly surf chicks. One of the only places in Hanalei Bay for late night entertainment.

Wanted to eat here because I saw it in The Descendants. Good food, great drinks, and nice service. Laid-back atmosphere.

4 of us had lunch at Tahiti Nui in Hanalei. The service was okay and the food average. It's a tired old place that's kinda funky, at least for a lunch place. After lunch we walked across the street and regretted we didn't eat where we could of had a fabulous mountain and waterfall views and better food. Try Hanalei Gourmet next time!
