“Mai Tai Heaven in Hanalei”
Reviewed July 10, 2013

After a great day touring the garden island of Kauai, we decided to head to Hanalei for dinner and drinks at the "Descendants" stop on Kauai Tahiti Nui. A light rain moved us inside instead of on the outdoor deck, but the atmosphere of live music, pictures of past and famous guests and hula dancing servers and bartenders made for a fun and relaxing meal. Both couples ordered pizza and despite the price (come to expect this everywhere in Hawaii) found both to be very good, with ample toppings, on a crust that was crispy on the bottom and perfectly chewy on the edges.
We ordered the meat special sausage, pepperoni, onions, green olives and mushrooms, while our friends tried the Hawaiian pizza. Service was very good considering there were just two servers and the place was packed. Oh, the Mai Tais the menu states right up front..."Mai Tai Roe Ae" Tahitiian for "out of this world the best". My first sip confirmed that statement, this was by far the best Mai Tai I had ever tasted and my wife agreed. We've "sampled" Mai Tais in several Hawaiian restaurants and bars, as well as several mainland establishments and none compared. Tahiti Nui came through for atmosphere, food and Mai Tais!!!

“TikiMan Pizza”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

The four of us got 2 large salads and split a large (all meat) pizza which was delicious. Look up the waterfall on the mts. and people-watch in Hanalei Town.

“Poor service, mediocre food”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

Poor service, mediocre food, good Mai Tais. Only come here for the Mai Tais. Otherwise go somewhere else. We were subjected to the rudest hostess and completely inattentive service from the waitstaff. When we asked the hostess to see if we could order as second round of drinks, she acted like we were inconveniencing her. The food was overpriced for the quality. It was one of the least enjoyable meals we had on the island. A message to the management: Consider hiring new staff.

“Surprisingly Good”
Reviewed July 7, 2013

Set out to have Sunday lunch here and soak up the atmosphere. With just the one person serving bar and the food we thought it may be slow. However the service was fantastic with only a short wait while she finished seeing to the table next to us. The Mai tai was fantastic and the Panko coated Ono and the burger were very good, probably the best fries we have had on the island. The surroundings are rustic and friendly and if you have seen the descendants you can relate. All in all a great afternoon would recommend if touring the north coast.

“Don't judge a book by its cover”
Reviewed July 6, 2013 via mobile

Place looks shabby, but we had the best fish of our whole trip. Ordered salads, for an extra 4 or 6 bucks you can have ahi on top. We were not expecting massive chunks of fresh off the boat perfectly seared ahi! It was amazing. Our kids' pizza was great too. I will always remember this lunch!
