I would definitely recommend the waffle with fruit and macadamia nuts, as well as the vegetarian jalapeno potato skillet (which was quite yummy, but very expensive for a tiny wedge). Skip the pancakes, they weren't that good. $27 for 2 people.

Cute cafe in Hanalai. Coffee is good and the pineapple black tea is delicious!

This place is a bit pricey, but what isn't on Kauai? The 100% Kona coffee is so strong, rich, unique - a great way to start the morning. The Kauai Belgian waffle with fresh papaya, bananas, Mac nuts, toasted coconut, and whip cream was to die for. So yummy I had to go back for a repeat of the breakfast on our way out to Tunnels beach. The service is usually pretty friendly, but this place can get a bit over crowded in the mornings. Try to grab a table outside along the rail, but if it's all full you can also sit at the picnic tables out front by Bubba's burgers.

Great espresso and espresso/milk drinks--latte, etc--but the flavored coffee drinks are not worth the extra $. The chai tea latte is made with flavored powder, and way too sweet.

Love the outdoor lanai, which is frequented by tourists, locals, and birds.

Negative: snootiness of most counter staff . Even the outwardly "friendly" ladies have a quite un-Kauai phoniness about them. Is this a job requirement for working there, or is it symptomatic of excess caffeine? The faces change over the years, yet the attitude stays the same.

The Kapaa branch of Java Kai has equally delicious and strong espresso drinks, but more down-to-earth and genuinely pleasant staff.

Only had a smoothie here but it was yummy. We also saw Pierce Brosnan while we were there!
