“Shave Ice in Paradise”
Reviewed July 7, 2013

We were experienced shave ice eaters or so we thought until we experienced a shave ice at Shave Ice Paradise. The kids loved reading all the different menu items and names for the different types of shave ice with ice cream at the bottom and sauces.
The kids loved creating their own concoctions which were set on giant round balls of the most heavenly shave ice! It was so fluffy! They were using gloves and ziploc bags to shape the shave ice into frozen balls that fit into the cups perfectly. They recommended a topping of creme which was delicious, I think it is sweetened condensed milk, but it was so yummy!
My twelve year old son has never been so willing to try new flavors but the woman behind the counter at Shave Ice Paradise was so calm and unhurried, she put him at ease and encouraged all of his choices.
They put a gummi fish on your choice of shave ice which the kids thought was fabulous. When you go there, you can read the story of the fish...it is easier to just tell you to go see their "fish" than to tell you the secret!
My husband and I had their ice cream, coffee ice cream for me and a chocolate concoction for my husband. We switched our cups halfway through and that was terrific, two tastes in one sitting.
They have large tables out front underneath umbrellas that were perfect on such a hot day. We were cooled off with our shave ice and ice cream. A great stop in an afternoon of shopping.

“Decent shave ice.”
Reviewed July 3, 2013

Shave ice is hard to do. Ice can be temperamental. Consistent results are difficult to produce. We liked this shave ice. It was good, it was refreshing, the service was friendly and fast. Plus, they put a gummy Nemo in your shave ice. Eat it quickly before it gets too cold to be gummy. :)

“Can't keep my family away”
Reviewed July 3, 2013

We visit Shave Ice Paradise almost every day --- our children love the shave ice with snow cap and beg for us to return each day. There was a better shave ice place in Hanalei a few years ago but they closed so we moved to Shave Ice Paradise and have no complaints.

The best thing about Shave Ice Paradise is the location - right in the heart of Hanalei village - with green grass, picnic tables and plenty of families hanging out in view of the mountains and quaint shops... such a great area to spend time.

“Not bad, a little pricey for what you get in comparison”
Reviewed July 1, 2013

Just comparing it to many of the other shaved ice vendors on the island, it was a little bit more and we got a little less shaved ice. Can't beat the location however right in Hanalei, and the folks were very nice.

“We love going to Shave Ice Paradise!”
Reviewed June 27, 2013

One of the first things we do when we arrive in Kauai is get shaved ice. And then we come back again and again while on the island! Most of the time we stay in the Princeville or Hanalei area so Shave Ice Paradise is the closest & our favorite place to stop. Lots of delicious flavors and the ice is always consistent!
