“Outstanding Customer Service”
Reviewed October 12, 2012

This is a beautiful property with a beautiful pool, poolside bar and golf course vistas outside your room that almost look CGI in their perfection. The rooms were clean, well-provisioned for cooking and spacious. One thing I really liked about this side of the island and this resort is that you don't have wall-to-wall people surrounding you. Maybe that's because of the black lava rock that some reviewers don't like. If so, there are several major American cities that should import lava rock in large quantities. But the overriding reason for staying here is the people who work here. Everyone--and I mean everyone--bartenders, entertainer at the bar, front desk staff, concierge, cleaning people, building maintenance people--were consistently friendly and helpful. As a frequent vacationer, I sometimes feel that the "customer service" I'm getting came right from a manual or a training class. I didn't feel that way here: just great people who are glad you're there.

Overall the resort was fantastic, The rooms were very nice and clean. The pool was great and so was the food. The only downside is the beach, no sand all rock. Kona is a nice Island to Visit. I strongly recommend you to the helicopter tour of the volcano. The flight is about 50 minutes where it takes you to the top of the mountain, then to the ocean where the lava enters the water. On the way back you fly over waterfalls (safari tours).

We have been coming to HGVC since it was just The Bay Club, that's 15 years ago.
We preferred this property to the others in this area because the rooms are so much larger
and most have tranquil and scenic views of the Waikoloa golf course,

The Bay Club was originally developed by Nikken Corp as a condominium project and a
high quality one at that. We stayed here so many times that we decided to buy a two bedroom unit.
Several years ago HGVC management decided to refurbish the Bay Club and all the owners had to pay a special assessment.
I had some issues with several HGVC employees who were acting without the Aloha spirit,
and a manger who did not seem to care.

But now, the quality of the new improvements are amazing. The HGVC Bay Club units are much more valuable than they were originally. This is a beautiful, well run resort. I'm impressed.
All the employees I met here are falling over themselves to help and are so friendly.
My 2 bedroom unit is beautifully equipped with all new furniture, floors, countertops, wall coverings,
and appliances.
If there are any issues the HGVC folks are standing by to help.
HGVC at Waikoloa is once again a beautiful slice of a Hawaiian delight.

We enjoyed the Hilton Waikoloa Grand Vacations but missed being near the ocean. The rooms are very nice. We had a two bedroom with a full kitchen dining area and living room. Rooms are updated, clean and spacious. The only disappointment is not being 1/2 mile from the water. The rooms all exit to a parking lot so you do not get the feeling of a luxury hotel. If I did not want a kitchen I would opt for the Hilton Waikola Hotel which is a beautiful hotel facing the ocean. They do provide a shuttle so you can get around if you don't have a car. Good place for families who want the feeling of a condominium and not a hotel.

We had an amazing time at this property on the Big Island. We had three condos on the first floor with lanais that faced a large green space our kids ran around there while we sat on the lanai and read. Great BBQ area right near the pool - was virtually un-used while there. Pool is nice for a relaxing break from the Hilton Waikoloa. We had access and only went one day for the waterslides. We chose to use the HGVC pool.

Amazing kitchen, tvs, wi-fi was great, staff was attentive. Facilities were well maintained. Great 2BR.

There was a little noise from the upstairs condo but not so much to bother but it was clear when the people were there and when they left the property.

We loved it so much we bought into the timeshare with our family.

Room Tip: First floor rooms have great sized lanais.

We have been staying at this HGVC for several years. It is always good with friendly staff and beautiful grounds. The pool, bar and parking are all great. But the rooms are getting a little dated; especially the kitchens which lack counter space due to gigantic microwaves from the 50's (just kidding not invented until 70's) and low cabinets which block counter space. The exercise room has the same equipment from several years ago.
Still with access to Hilton Hotel amenities this is a good value. Units are large. Flat screen TV's with marginal reception and limited channels but 3 in each unit. Curiously the exercise room has great reception and numerous channels. Close to beach and shopping with a free shuttle. I will stay here again

Room Tip: top floor avoids children running a track meet over your head

This place is by far the best resort on the Big Island. The staff are absolutely fantastic. The Resort Manager Phil is a gentleman and nothing is too much trouble. The small pool and the small feel keeps it very intimate. Perfect to relax and wind down

Room Tip: Get a room near the pool, its too far to walk if its over 10 yards! lol
