Second time visiting and we decided to stay in the nicer section close to the dolphins. Hotel is very well kept, safe and always continues to amaze. Pluses are the beautiful grounds and updated decor in our room. Well worth paying extra as the some rooms are well past their best. Disappointed that the pools are not heated- actually so cold we never used them but fortunately the best beach on the island is 10 minutes north. Ate at the KPC overlooking the ocean. Book on Open Table before you leave and look up sunset time and make the reservation for 30 minutes before. Best part of the whole trip is watching the whales and the sunset while eating a great meal.

Room Tip: Lagoon Tower rooms with Ocean View are recently renovated and easy to get to without using the tram...

Stayed one night at the Hilton Waikoloa Village on the Big Island, Hawaii in transit to fly home. Would have loved to have stayed longer. Room was really nice, resort is beautiful. The lagoon is awsome with all of the sea trutles and sea life. Resort even has dolphins! This would be the perfect Hawaiian destination for someone with school age children because so much to do. Check in staff did a really good job. Would have given them 5 stars except for our experience with the concierge and front desk on the morning we were leaving. Had a late flight and was told at check in we would be able to use a changing room if we wanted to stay and enjoy the resort after check out the next morning. He said to just check with the front desk. Checkout was at 12 so we called the front desk about 10:30 to inquire about storing luggage and a changing room. Was transferred to the concierge voice mail. Left multiple messages but call was never returned. Called the front desk again and still could not get anyone to answer the question so we just showered and left the resort at noon. Unfortunately was a negative way to end our experience at the Hilton.

We stayed a the Hilton Waikoloa Village the first week of February. It was the first time we have watched the Super Bowl when it was still daylight out ! The resort is amazing and breathtakingly beautiful. They spared no expense when they built this place to include the tram, boats, dolphin experience, and all of the asian art work. There is a large variety of restaurants, but we did not get a chance to try all of them. The Kamuela Provision Company was outstanding, but the Kirin Chinese restaurant and the Boat Landing Cantina were only average. We had group dinners the rest of the time, which were all very good, so we did not get a chance to try any other restaurants on the property. I wish we could have tried Imari Japanese restaurant, but we ran out of time. The guest rooms are nice and have plenty of space. One amazing feature is that you can watch whales this time of year from the shore and from your guest room if you are facing the ocean. There were also sea turtles and a lot of fish you can see while snorkeling in the lagoon. I would definitely come back to this property again. It would be a great place to bring the kids next time with a lot of things for them to do at the pools, lagoon, or the dolphin experience. There is a rental car agency on the property so you can rent cars to take day trips around the island. This resort was a very nice, peaceful experience, and it did not get loud or rowdy with parties late at night. It was a very relaxing place to experience the beauty of Hawaii !!

Room Tip: Get a room with an ocean view ! Sunsets are incredible and you can watch whales from the balcony.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hilton Waikoloa Village. It is beautiful, and so many family friendly facilities. The rooms were clean, the restaurants good and a nice variety, and we had a wonderful view.

Three things I might note. Number one, we chose the inclusive/exclusive package and many of the restaurants were not sure what it was...kind of seemed confused or questioning. It was a package which made meals more affordable, although in general, food fairly expensive. Number two, we paid extra for front row seats at the Lua (which was an excellent history of Hawaaii and great talent in the performers)....but on the way in...artificial lei's were tossed on us and we were almost forced to stand for a picture (which cost $35 after dinner). For the price I think the Hilton should at least step up for a free artificial lei. Three, the pools were cold. If guests are looking for a hotel with warm pools...they need to look for the description saying heated pools.

Upon arrival, I was completely put off by this place. We were a family of four traveling on a budget. I agree the tram, the paid parking and the distance to the rooms (ours was the Palace tower, ugh) was a total inconvenience. We walked every day to our room because the tram was never there when we were leaving and we could walk as fast as it traveled with the stops it makes. We had requested a two bed room because there were 4 of us. They were sold out of those and offered to wait list us. :( So one child slept with us and the other was on the twin pullout couch. This was not ideal. LUCKILY, we were with two family members that booked off site and could park our car each night to save the $17/day and had cooking facilities so we could avoid the $$$ restaurants. That said, we ended up LOVING the lagoon and the location. We brought a cooler on the plane, which helped a lot plus there was a dorm room fridge in our room. House cleaning was awesome and organized the kids toys every morning. We didn't eat there one time so I can't comment that. The on site coffee was $5 for a large and not so good. Costco came in extremely handy for beer, wine and some sushi. We stayed at the resort some, but went to the volcano, greens sands beach and the Polulu overlook. What an amazing island. Next time though, we are going over to the Kingsland property. By the end of the trip though, the kids loved the tram, and a couple of late nights, we ended up liking it too. The lagoon was the best part, hands down, for a day of snorkeling and picnicking.

Room Tip: Try and get the Lagoon or Ocean tower.
