“Very pleasant stay in ground floor 2BR”
Reviewed February 26, 2014

Our family had two HGVC "villas" in Waikoloa over Thanksgiving week. One was a 2BR ground floor corner unit in Bay Club, and the other was a 2BR upper floor unit in the first phase of Kings' Land. We absolutely loved the extra space in the Bay Club living areas! Would agree with other reviews that the kitchen is a little too small for multiple cooks, though. Even though Kings' Land is newer and has nicer finishes, we spent more time in Bay Club because it was so spacious. Since we have a large family, we really appreciated having the extra refrigerators (wine/beverage and cooler drawers) in the dining area. We loved being on the first floor, too, with the humongous patio out back, and walkway along the golf course to the hot tub. We'd heard about noise issues in the lower units, but it was not a problem at all. We never heard the people above us. Also, the resort pools were just fine for the kids (8 and under) - but the adults liked the super pool at Kingsland better. We would definitely recommend Bay Club for families and independent travelers. If you're looking for luxury and pampering, I'd go elsewhere.

We had an issue with a noisy ceiling fan, and maintenance was quick to respond. They changed out the wall switch and installed a new fan. Everyone was very nice.

The Bay Club units on the Big Island have been thoroughly refurbished and are very comfortable, appointments are upscale, and the resort is convenient to the beaches and other attractions on the Island. We had an enjoyable stay and were pleased with the Big Island experience.

Great lanis, good floor plan, extremely responsive staff, super location, the best timeshare we have ever stayed in. Kitchen is a little small, but for two it is no issue. Good place for families, two very nice pools and lots of kids activities.

If you are a Hilton Honors timeshare owner, prepare to feel like your being treated like second class.

Our experience started by walking into the room, where the floor was wet and smelled like mildew. Given that there is a hot water tank in the room, that seemed to be the issue. I called the front desk, they addressed, said they would talk to housekeeping,, and that's the last I heard from them. After a day or so we did not notice the smell further.

I would NOT recommend this resort for families. The average age for us was in the 60-ies and it felt more directed to the 50+ crowd.

Not impressed by this resort. I would like to reiterate a previous statement by another user which is true... "The Bay Club at Waikoloa is a very nice property, but not as nice as the Hilton Waikoloa Village Resort. Bay Club visitors are not allowed access to the Waikoloa Village pools. Had we known this in advance, we may not have stayed there."

We also stayed at the Hilton Grand Vacations Club at Waikoloa Beach Resort, which was significantly nicer than this resort.

When I was specifically told that we could not use the pools at the surrounding Hilton resorts unless we forked out $80 a day or $150 for three days, I was wondering why I was being treated like second class. This was a big let down for our family.

The grounds are well very kept, and there are some activities like tennis and swimming to keep you busy. There is also free movie rentals, which is nice for the evenings.

The rooms are ok, and they were updating the appliances while we were there, which is nice to see. Things like the old carpets, generic bathrooms and ratty doors need to be addressed. The kitchen area only has four place settings, which is totally inappropriate for a family. Prepare to do dishes three times a day on YOUR holiday if you choose to eat in. Wow...They really try to force you to eat out.

The pool area had cushions that were so old that the yellow foam was popping out of many of the cushions. Had to cover with our beach towels. Gross!

Overall, I would not return to this resort and carefully pick our next vacation at a nicer Hilton property.

The Bay Club at Waikola is a very nice property, but not as nice as the Hilton Waikola Village Resort. Bay Club visitors are not allowed access to the Waikola Village pools. Had we known this in advance, we may not have stayed there. We did book a couples massage at the Hilton Waikola Village and that experience left us disappointed. No aromatics (unless you pay for aromatherapy) and no couples relaxation area (separate areas for men and women). The therapists were excellent, it was just the environment that was a disappointment for the price of the service.

WE enjoyed the room/apt and the surroundings. was very quiet, hardly any noise from neighbors which was great. Great recreation activities and opportunities to try different activities. We love being in Waikoloa and having ability to go to other parts of the island, easily from this location

We were in the same unit which helped us gather for meals. We were able to shop, explore the Hilton, and take in the Island with ease. I really love this Island and The Bay Club meets my needs. I will come again to explore this paradise.
