Debbie directed us to a good place to snorkel and lent us equipment and beach towels.
We bought food at the market and microwaved it there.
She said her guests were like distant relatives she hadn't met, which shows why it's comfortable it is to stay there. She is easygoing and unpretentious. If you want fancy, this is not the place for you. If you want welcoming and comfortable, it is.
If you don't mind close quarters, dogs and cats and sharing a bath with other guests to save money, this is the place to stay. Debbie was very nice. The pic posted for the property is her living room. There were no other guests there when we were there, but she did inform us if there had been that we would share the small bathroom with them. The bed was very comfortable. We were only there for one night. We came in late and left early, so I am unable to give any details about sharing the living space with the owner.
This property is located in a residential neighborhood. You do have to navigate up 5 or 6 steps on the front porch to enter the property. If you are on a budget and lack of personal space isn't a problem,I'd recommend staying here. If you are expecting a Bed and Breakfast type set up you won't get it here. It truly depends on what you are looking for as to whether this is the right place for you.

I came to the Big Island to catch up with some friends who were in Waikoloa for a medical meeting and needed a more cost effective place to stay than the big Waikoloa hotels. My main criteria besides price was that it be clean and quiet and this rental fit the bill.
The room is in a residential neighborhood in Waikoloa Village about 8 miles inland from the beach. The house is a mile and a half from the village center where there is a grocery store and some restaurants and shops.
You are sharing the house with the owner, 2 friendly dogs and 2 equally friendly cats. Common sense rules like pick up after yourself and don't leave dirty dishes in the sink apply. There is a big screen TV with cable and Netflix in the living room. There is a private bath but it may be shared if a second room in the house is rented out. Bedding and towels were first rate.

The Host Debbie made our stay so welcoming, as she gave us information on local hot spots, beaches, directions, hiking. Her home is very comfortable, clean, and she gave us enough space, and when we asked for info she was very helpful. Amenities were very high quality, i.e. bed, bed sheets, towels, soap, internet access. Pretty, residential neighborhood. It was our first night in Hawaii after traveling 24 hours, so it was good to rest there. I didn't know exactly where it was located when we booked it in relation to the beaches and Waimea, but then realized it is centrally located between those places, and good starting point for us to then go to Waipio Valley.
