“Dont golf in a wind storm!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 31, 2014

We purchased a 3 round course package for two people and used our first round on the Kings Course that brought down the price to about $90 a round per person. We had the unfortunate luck of picking a day where the wind was so bad it made me unstable during my shots, the good part was 300 yard drives, bad part was 100 yard drives hit with the same intensity. The course start is very well controlled at the practice area which is very good in its self. Unlimited range balls and a decent chipping area. Once on the course the fairways and putting greens are well maintained but the sand is rock hard and should be churned up as it is like hitting of concrete. Balls hit out of play were for the most part long gone as the Lava eats them up or the Lava will bit e you should you search for them to hard, that being said I found the course forgiving and not to tight. Our other complainant is there is no course marshal and we got stuck behind a foursome that was on a 5 1/2 hour rate and due to language barriers would not let us pass. We ended up skipping a hole entirely to get by them but managed to make it up at the end of our round. The Beer cart only came around twice and had the normal selection of drinks and snacks.

“Lava Lava Everywhere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2014

This course is in good condition considering it gets three times the play of Mauna Lani and Mauna Kea. There are some rough spots in the fairways but the tees and greens were in great condition.
The Bermuda grass rough will cause serious shot deflection.
Our pro shop experience was excellent because it was Allen who checked us in.
They have a busy, thriving, and nicely stocked operation.
Our starter was efficient and friendly. We tee'd off early and played a fun three and a half hour round.
This course plays tougher than Mauna Lani South and there are several killer par fives here, specially the #1 handicap second hole.
The Kings Course was built in the middle of a lava field. The designers, Weiskopf and Morrish, have fully utilized lava rock formations to intimidate the golfer. Errant tee shots that don't find the short grass are destined to spend their time in permanent lost ball land.
Good design, tough yet fair, well conditioned course, great weather, sea breezes, and fast play make the Kings Course at Waikoloa a good choice.

“King's Course”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 26, 2014

This one is paired with the Beach and the Beach is better. The King's seems a little boring after the playing the Beach. The greens are good and the maintenance is good.

“Nice Convenient Location”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 20, 2014 via mobile

I recently played a couple of rounds on the King's course during a stay in Waikoloa. The course is nice, but I would not say exceptional. The condition was acceptable, but not worth the $140 full price. I purchased a multiple round pass that saved some money off of full price, which , if you are looking at playing, you should consider. This course played easier than the Beach course and is more of a links style layout. There were resident goats on some of the holes, but that was the only wildlife that we seen.
I would play it again, as it is very convenient, and relatively speaking, it is considerably cheaper than some of the other resort golf in the area.

“Traps need lots of attention”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 25, 2013

OK course, not as scenic as the Beach course nor as much fun. The sand traps appeared to have been last worked a few years ago. Decent price and not crowded.
