The restaurant was started by James Babian chef at the Four Seasons. It's been open about 5 months. We didn't hear about it until our last night. We certainly would have returned had time permitted. It is very busy and filled with locals. It seemed that everyone knew someone with all the greetings. The menu is on the web site. I'm sure whatever you order will be as tasty as our dinner. Don't pass this up. Atmospher is joyous and a bit load but absorbing you to become part of it.
They do have a small outside area. Make it a point to visit - often. Reservations are a must.

This restaurant is in the Waikoloa Village shopping center, about six miles from the Mauna Lani and Waikoloa Beach Resorts. It is well worth the trip up to the Village. The restaurant is new since our last trip to the Big Island in August 2013. The owner is the former executive chef at the Four Seasons Resort on the island, and the food is outstanding. I had a wild boar and pasta dish with a wonderful wine sauce. The wine list is very nice and the manager's choices were great with the selected entrees. The absolute biggest surprise was the price of the meals. Much less expensive than the resort restaurants, and better food too! A great value. We went back again and brought friends with us who also enjoyed it. Make it a point to head up the hill to Pueo's Osteria!

Five visits to Pueo's Osteria have me convinced that you can only get an awesome meal here! This is Four Season's quality (the hotel was sad to see the chef/owner leave to start his own place), only it's very affordable and they dish out a friendly, local vibe and aloha hospitality.

Who would think that classic Italian dishes could be fused so successfully with traditional Hawaiian ingredients and flavors? The kitchen here, with the help of local farmers, are doing just that.

My favorite favorites:
- The Burrata salad. Our server says that the Burrata cheese is flown in fresh from California. It is served with local tomatoes which, regardless of the time of year, are super sweet and deal-ish. I've had this numerous times and each experience has been as great as the one before.
- Tagliatelle. The house-made pasta has a dreamy texture and is the perfect vehicle for the perfectly savory pesto sauce which is made from locally grown ingredients.
- Pizza. My favorites are the Rustico which is topped with yummy fennel sausage and sautéed onions, and the MPA which has mascarpone, prosciutto, parmesan and arugula. Their pizza crust is thin and light and airy and wonderful.
- Kampachi. In case you have not been to Hawaii, this is a local fish prepared Italian style with capers and olives and pine nuts and other great stuff that thankfully, compliment, rather than dominate, the flavor of the fish.
- Pasta and fish specials. Trust your server.

If you have time for Sunday brunch, go. Super yummy!!!! If you are amongst the many travelers who arrive on the Big Island on one of those late flights, go and order off the bar menu. Enjoy!

We spent an evening at Pueo's and had great food with an European twist!
The restaurant is located in a shopping mall and quiet easy to find. The setting of the tables is a bit tight and it's hard to keep up a conversation because of the noise and the loud background music.
The service was friendly but not very firm on the dishes on the menu. However, the salad was delightful and super fresh followed by a veal steak with a homemade pasta as a side dish. Everything was cooked to perfection, only the mozzarella layer on the steak was to much for our taste. The dessert, a crème brulée or panna cotta (the waiter didn't know what it was), was an awesome experience you shouldn't miss!
