“Neat place!”
Reviewed August 16, 2013 via mobile

Came here instead of Roy's to try out "the new place" on a Thursday night. This location has changed venues several times over the years, but I'd be surprised if Three Fat Pigs doesn't buck that trend. The atmosphere is chic comtemporary and pleasant, live light jazz music, indoor and outdoor seating available by the lake. The menu has good variety but isn't overly complex. It's mostly steak and seafood fare but with numerous unique touches and flavors. The wine list is quite limited. I had the osso bucco which was savory and flavorful. Service was attentive and the food arrived with amazing speed. Bear in mind that this is an a la carte menu so sides are ordered (and purchased) seperately from the main dish. Plan on $35-$50/person without wine.

“Trying to be great”
Reviewed August 12, 2013 via mobile

We had a mediocre experience here. Our waiter was maybe the best part! He was very friendly and attentive. The food was okay....nothing special. One in our party ordered the "Fresh Catch" and granted, it was good fish, but she had to ask for salt and pepper to season it.....and when they finally brought it out, the pepper was in a small plastic cup, like they were not expecting anyone to want/need extra seasoning..just the sort on thing a "well-known" chef might do. Would not recommend.

“Lousy and expensive”
Reviewed August 10, 2013 via mobile

Our waiter was clueless, food was lousy, and bill was outrageous. You will have to pay $50 for something that should cost $9.99 at TGI Fridays. Stay home.

“Enjoyed everything about Three Fat Pigs”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

I usually shy away from "trendy" restaurants owned or run by chefs with "seasonal menus" because they seem to be selling the "dining experience" for a high price tag and have a menu that fits you to their taste. Not so with Three Fat Pigs. I enjoyed the restaurant, with choice of indoor or outdoor seating (we enjoyed the indoor seating overlooking the coy pond). I enjoyed the friendly staff, and most of all the food. The menu had good variety and there were specials so you could choose something unique to the area, or something familiar, but with a special touch in the seasoning or sauce. We visited Three Fat Pigs for three meals, mostly because my wife loved the fish items on the menu. Out of the 6 menu choices we tried, the only thing that was left on a plate was a side dish of pickled tomatoes (and that was just a matter of taste, really).

“Mixed Bag”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

We tried Three Fat Pigs primarily because my 10 year old daughter was a huge fan of Chef Ippy on Food Network Star. The best part of the restaurant was Chef Ippy and his family. He came out and took a photo with my star struck daughter. His parents and aunt were also there and they were absolutely fantastic and friendly. We almost felt like we were home.

The food was inconsistent. We ordered three appetizers for the table. The flavors were well developed but the presentation was average. For dinner, several of us had the fish of the day (monchong) and cous cous. The fish was overcooked and dry and the cous cous just didn't seem to fit in with the dish. The BBQ chicken, however, was amazing. Moist, tender, flavorful. I have a hard time thinking of ever having better chicken. My daughter had the pasta, which was also very good.

The desserts were good. We all shared the orange scented olive oil cake, adult smore, and pudding. All were equally good.

The server was average to slightly subpar.

What was really disturbing was the apparent lack of management. We had an early reservation and at least 5 menu items were unavailable that night. We also ordered a bottle of white wine and the server said it would be a few minutes because the wine needed to chill.
