“Great for breakfast or snacks”

Ate there for our first breakfast on the island. I had the fish and eggs, and ordered them slightly burnt with onions. It was amazing, and the combination of proteins kept me full all day long. My husband and son had pancakes and were very happy with them. My son ordered a coconut latte (no coffee), which was so good we went to another lava java later in our trip.

“Best kept secret on the Puako-Kohala Coast”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2013

We had visited the Island Lava Java in Kona and were impressed by the food and service. Reasonable prices and a nice variety of breakfast options made it a great alternative to the resort prices at the Farimont. It was a pretty long drive to Kona for breakfast, so we drove into Waikoloa village (west on Waikoloa Drive at the Blue Hawiian helicopter tours). We stumble upon a recently added second location for Lava Java and were happy to find that they have a fairly extensive breakfast menu, although a smaller venue. Staff was just as friendly and the selection is pretty good for the size of the store. Only a few minutes drive from the resorts at Mauna Lani and the Hilton in Waikoloa.

“Well rounded Java/good food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2013 via mobile

I am a local here in Waikoloa and am finally getting around to say a few words since they open. The place for sure gave Waikoloa a face lift as it so badly needed it. The Coffee is excellent, the food it AWSOME! As long as you're not in a hurry. It can be slow getting out to you. A few smiles from the servers would cheer the place up a bit, and even though there can be a stiff breeze flowing the village, on none Wendy days the place feels like being locked in a closet. My suggestion would be a few fans, maybe even outside when needed. Other than that, I would having the Lava Java a 5.

Happy travels

“Breakfast hit the spot.”

Poached eggs on pulled pork was a real treat for breakfast. The coffee stayed hot and our service was great this visit.

“Worth leaving the resorts to have breakfast here”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 18, 2013

We had a pretty good breakfast here. There were short staffed the morning we went (a Saturday), and the waitress seemed a little overwhelmed. However, we were not in a huge rush, and the was good. Better than another expensive resort breakfast buffet.
