“Nice property with great value”
Reviewed March 30, 2014

We wanted to spend some time on the Kona side of the Big Island without paying the ridiculous 5-star prices associated with a lot of accommodations on this side of the island, and ended up choosing Paniolo Greens Resort. We were very satisfied with our stay here. The resort is located a 20 minute drive from the coast, giving us easy access to the beaches, sights, etc. of the area. We stayed in a one bedroom unit, which was fully furnished and equipped with kitchen, washer & dryer, etc. The unit was clean, well taken care of and spacious. The staff were polite and professional, although we didn't interact with them a lot.

We had a two-bedroom unit, fully furnished and equipped, nice and clean (except some dust on the curtains), overlooking the adjacent golf course. Everything you need for a comfortable stay was there.
Very reasonably priced. Excellent location with crisp-clear air and access to all major attractions of the Big Island (the new Saddle Road is at the doorstep).
And we could extend our stay on the last day for another three hours for free.
Three happy travelers from Switzerland to the Paniolo Greens / Waikoloa.

Townhouse was prefect for three of us. We enjoyed the patio the most, we were overlooking the golf course and loved watching the turkeys that are all over the place. It is well maintained and we had everything we could need. Was a bit surprised we had to pay extra for air conditioning.

It is a bit of a drive to Volcano National Park, but a great way to see the island.

We had never been to Hawaii before and so didn't know what to expect or even what to plan to do while we were there. We our timeshare owners and went through our Interval International to book a room in Hawaii! The only place available was Paniolo Greens Resort! We were very happy with our accommodations, yes they are a little outdated but were comfortable and clean! We were glad they had the orientation the day after we got there which explained all the different possible activities we could do. We took the concierge's advice and did many of the activities they suggested! We were very pleased with all of their advice and have absolutely nothing to complain about with the place we stayed and with the people there! They went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed to make our 6 day stay there comfortable. The only complaint I have is about the presentation we had to attend. The salesman was very pushy and had he not been so pushy we may have purchased another timeshare! Probably not but might have considered it! It also went beyond the 90 minutes we were told we needed to go to. We did save over 700 dollars by attending the presentation, so that made it more bearable. We would definitely go back there to this resort again! The turkeys in the morning were a great way to start the day!

Room Tip: We had a room in B103 close to pool and amenities. It would have been nice to have a restaurant on...

We stayed for two weeks in January. It was our first visit to Paniolo Greens, but our third to the Big Island. We very much liked the accommodation. Although not on the beach several beaches are within easy access but just as important to us was the ease of being able to get to all parts of the Big Island. The Volcanoes park has become much easier to drive to with the remodelling of Saddle Road, it is now possible to make it a day trip there and back with ease.

The supermarket and cafés in Waikola market were excellent and the supermarket particularly well stocked. They were comfortably within walking distance. The accommodation consisted of a two bedroomed apartment. It was well appointed and had most of the comforts of home. Our only criticism was some of furniture had obviously been well used and looked a bit tired and dated. We had a couple of problems with the plumbing and these were quickly sorted out by maintenance. Apart from that, we really enjoyed our time at Paniolo Greens and will be happy to return.

This site would have received a 5, except they start mowing the Golf Course lawn every day at 5:00 a.m. Didn't really bother us, we just got up and closed the windows and went back to sleep. This resort is about 4 miles inland, but we could still view the ocean from our unit. We had a lovely corner unit. The rear of our unit faced the golf course, which was very popular. Great location to explore the canyons in the area, check out Parker Ranch dinner or do the Mauna Kea summit.

Room Tip: There are no elevators, so you need to be able to negotiate a full flight of stairs to the second le...
