“EXCELLENT! Sun, Sailing, Snorkeling, Cocktails, Sea Turtles”

Ocean Sports Snorkel Adventure
Certificate of Excellence

I'm thinking you don't see a lot of reviews here because Ocean Sports is a big presence in the Waikoloa resort area and they cater to a lot of 'last minute, book on location' types who don't use Trip Advisor? IDK...BUT, WE REALLY LOVED IT!! It's such a lovely, smooth sail. The open bar is great, the food was decent, the crew was SUPER accommodating (and generous with the cocktails), helpful with the snorkeling for the people that needed it. AND, they offered handy float belts as opposed to 'noodles' if you wanted to make your life easier while snorkeling (trust me, you do! haha). The black sand beach was neat, you could snorkel all over and then climb out on the beach for a bit to explore. Hint: It was very soft, you have to put your flippers back on in the water or you have a a foot full of lava pebbles! The reef here is amazing and we saw tons of cool fish, and I was like 2 feet above a beautiful sea turtle. Bring an underwater camera!! Even if you don't snorkel, you can hang out on the boat while the others in your party do. (snorkeling aside; getting out on the ocean, on a boat, is so great because you can take cool photos of Mauna Kea, and if you're lucky, there will be snow on top which just makes for a perfect photo op. Not to mention; you're bound to see whale action in the winter months, we saw tons!)

This was definitely a highlight of our 16 day trip to HI. When we left that day, I was like 'OMG..I wanna do that again, you guys!' But, we had a full schedule. Later in our trip, on our last night, we went on their CHAMPAGNE SUNSET SAIL and that was just as great! Thanks Ocean Sports Crew, you friggen rock! (We tipped them well, they all deserved it!)

We did a repeat trip with Ocean Sports of Waikoloa. The cruise started at 10:30hours. It was well organized and the crew was very helpful and provided a lot of time to my youngest two children. they accommodated them well, and explained different sea creatures> we had also spent time several days previously with the "Fair Wind II". Overall this was a superior event, and we would repeat our trip with Ocean Sports. there whale watching tours are very well run, and Clarie as the ocean biologist is a great commentator on the whale watching tour. Would recommend this very highly.

We paid at least $150 a head for the snorkel sail at the Wildlife Society Conference in Waikaloa. Took a tour bus to the beach to board the catamaran. Mai-Tai's etc and snacks provided. Sailed a mile or 2 up the coast to the snorkeling spot. Basic (rental quality) gear provided. About 2 hrs in the water. The boat trip was kind of fun but probably my worst snorkel experience on HI. Our best snorkel spot had more fish, clearer water, fewer people and was free!. The Ocean-Sports people were very nice but the trip was way over-priced like everything else at Waikaloa, IMHO.

Went on the black sand snorkel tour on November 7th, 2011. We were picked early... yes the bus came early to the Hilton Waikoloa!! We had a beautiful day and a nice powered trip down to the black sand beach and snorkel spot. A lot of small fish, pretty coral, a turtle and a couple of other sea critters were around for us to see. The crew was the highlight of the tour, Capt Will, Scotty, Kealohi, and MIke were always around to answer questions and provide insight into what we were seeing, where we were going and othe cool things about the area. In fact, it was the crew that turned this snorkel tour from a 3 to a 5, they made it into a wonderful trip. Lunch was good and the crew made sure everyone had enough to eat and drink throughout the entire time aboard. Thanks!
The trip back was nice too, Capt Will opened up the sails and we had a smooth 1.5 hour or so sail back up to A-bay, where our bus was waiting to take us back to the Hilton.
Thanks Ocean Sports.

We came all the way from the UK to Hawaii for our honeymoon, and while volcanoes were the main attraction, the clear waters of Hawaii were a close second.

The trip on the boat to the secluded bay was a good start to the day and we had the opportunity to ask the crew questions about the sea life in the area. Once we got there the snorkelling was amazing with plenty of fish where ever I looked. My wife (who can't swim) was happy to stay on the boat enjoying the sun and having a cocktail however.

Overall, this was a lovely relaxing trip and well worth doing if you have the time.
