We stayed here in Nov 2017 and I’ve been meaning to write this review ever since. We loved each day of our stay. The location is grand, situated on the sweeping A Bay. The ancient fishing ponds bordering the ocean were serene. The location was also excellent for day excursions to Kona to the south and Waipio Valley to the northeast.

We indulged in the amazing breakfast buffet each day - the pork and salmon omelet was ... well I had it very day. We also indulged in an ocean view room and appreciated spectacular sunsets,

The infinity pools were lovely although a bit warm for my taste. My only quibble at all was that our bottom sheet wasnt fitted and came loose at night,

We had a short four nights at the Waikoloa Marriott and were greeted with the warmth and welcome of old Hawaii. They have gone through a major renovation since we last stayed here and it was a well done update. Half of the hotel is now Marriott Vacation Club, but we stayed on the hotel side. The pools are wonderful, with a couple of options and a fun, easy slide. Expect several children. We rented a "day bed" type cabana for two and enjoyed the guaranteed shade, option for semi-privacy, and wonderful service. All of the pool attendants went over and beyond. Our waitress, Maria, took excellent care of us. We enjoyed the beach and one day trekked over to the Lava Lava Restaurant and then the Hilton, over rocks and lava, but just a fun adventure at low tide. Remember your wallet in case you want to linger. It's a simple walk back, about .7 miles on the street. The hotel is well located, on a terrific beach, across the street from the Kings Shops, and close to the Queens Marketplace. Relax and enjoy!

Room tip: Ocean view might mean just a peek at the ocean. Still nicer than non-ocean view rooms.

We recently vacationed on the Big Island and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa. The staff are extremely friendly, hospitable, and helpful. Our room was clean and well kept and the beds were super comfortable. The swimming pool is very large and extremely relaxing. The beach is a very short, easy, and scenic walk from the hotel. Each morning, we ordered breakfast from a nice breakfast counter in the hotel. The malasadas (like a donut, but shaped in a ball) were outstanding, but we also enjoyed the breakfast sandwiches and coffee. We also attended a wonderful luau one evening. The staff at the luau were very accommodating to my son, who has food allergies. The hotel is very generous with beach/pool towels. You simply get a card and they give you two towels per card and you can turn in and/or check out your towels as often as you need to. There are a few very nice restaurants nearby, but I recommend renting a vehicle and driving all over the island to take advantage of more restaurant offerings. If we visit the Big Island in the future, we will certainly stay at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resource & Spa again! This is an awesome property and if you use your Marriott Rewards points to stay here, you will agree that the value is totally worth it.

We started our 10 day Big Island trip by staying at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott (followed by 7 nights in a Kona beach front condo). We had a great experience at the Marriott resort. We liked the proximity to the airport, as it wasn't long before we had landed and were at the resort. The kids loved the shell lei greeting. Check-in went smoothly as we had already checked in through the app. We are Gold Elite members, and not sure what we were given as elite members, and what was for all customers. We received a box of macadamia chocolates, an insulated cooler bag, and the resort coupons. I Immediately went to the Blink photography desk because I did not want to miss our free souvenir family photo (more on this later).
We were told we were upgraded to a pool view as Elite members. Our view was amazing of the pool, fish ponds and ocean.
As soon as we got to the room we headed straight down to the pool and beach. A-bay was great for the kids, with mellow waves and nice sand.
We spent a lot of time in the salt water pool and on the waterslides. We got the free dally snorkel rental from the beach shack (they were very relaxed about time limit). We walked to Queens Marketplace for dinner both nights (the resort is the perfect location for easy access to King and Queens), and took the $2 trolley around Waikoloa for fun.

We ordered the happy hour pupu platter one night from the bar area. Slow service, but great tasting food.

One morning we had the brunch (25% off for Elite members) and loved it. Great selection, and good quality. The kailua omelet and coconut syrup and macadamia nut waffles were the best.

My only complaint with our stay at the resort was not getting our family photo through Blink photography. I believe they make it difficult to get the picture that is supposedly a part of the resort fee. Before we had even made it up to our room at check-in, I went to the photography desk to book our picture. I was told they do free photo shoots, with the option to buy (packages start at $475). When I said we were only interested in the included souvenir photo I was told they only do those between 10-11am EVERY DAY. I double checked that we could just show up between those times and get our photo, and was told yes. We arrived at 10:05 dressed up after breakfast for our picture, and no one was at the desk. We waited in the concierge line to ask about it, and were told they would be back soon. We waited in the lobby for about 20 minutes, went back to concierge and were given a business card with a number to call. We call the number and it goes to the phone at the unattended desk that we were standing next to. We were told to leave a message with our contact information for them to call us back and take our picture. We stood around the lobby until almost 11:00am. As you can probably guess, we never heard back. We were bummed, and annoyed but what can you do? I assume the photography company is contracted through the hotel.

We enjoyed the rest of the time at the resort. Most every employee was friendly and welcoming. The lady at the pool shack was especially friendly giving us some great tips and offering us water. We choose well, picking the Marriott Resort as the starting point for our vacation.

Room tip: Room 5280 had a great view of the pool area and ocean view. Our lanai was also shaded during most of the day making it very enjoyable.

We were here on our honeymoon and had a good stay here. Service was good as was the amenities. Our room was fine. The beach was good the walk from the hotel to the beach was very unique, it had the lava flow scenery with tidal pools which was cool. The regular pools were good. Restaurant was very good as well. I would recommend this hotel.
