We arrived at this resort by a morning flight from Honolulu, and although the hotel was not quite full, it took 4 hours to get a room - an hour past their 3 PM check in time. Furthermore, since we were pre-checked in, our "welcome package" had been misplaced, and it took 3 calls to get it. Ditto for coffee in the room. Although the hotel is not in a congested big-city, but on an isolated part of the sparsely populated Big island, they charge a whopping $20 per day "resort fee" for parking. Also, we had to always account for all our quota of beach towels in order to get a replacement the next day. There are shopping centers next to the hotel, but the choice is mostly limited to mainland chains rather than authentic Hawaiian with the exception of Roy's restaurant, that was outstanding. Another disappointment was the tour booked through the concierge desk. We were assured that we could save ourselves a drive to Hilo to catch the helicopter tour of the volcano that we had planned, and were instead given a special rate on a plane ride from Kona that supposedly was the same experience; but it wasn't in the least. We saw neither the crater, nor any lava. Perhaps the hotel gets a cut for filling the plane seats? The last insult was that Marriott didn't post any Reward points to our account since we had booked a package deal. Even United Airlines gave us mileage for economy class seats as a part of this package, and surely, a luxury hotel such as Marriott ought to reward loyalty even more so since Hilton actually had a better priced package deal that we didn't select because of our Rewards program that turned out to be worthless.

We stayed for a week at this hotel during March. It wasn't too crowded so we got great attention from the staff. The room is simple yet we didnt spend much time in there so it didnt matter. Our room was cleaned daily, and the concierge desk was very helpful in helping us plan our trips. Breakfast buffet is simple at the hotel restaurant, one tip if you plan to have dinner do make a reservation. Only complaint about the food is room service is pricey! The Luau at the hotel was very entertaining and best thing the shops are withing walking distance. Overall had a wonderful time. I did have a small issue at the end with the bill, and so I called the front desk clerk was nice and helpful in clearing it up.

Spending spring break at the Waikoloa Marriott was perfect. The staff were excellent; very friendly, knowledgable and efficient. The location is amazing and we could have spent the whole week just lazing by the pools or floating in the sea. Was also fantasic to find that Chad one of the bartenders was knew how to mix my fav cocktail, THANKS CHAD!
We were lucky that we went to the Luau on a "quiet night" only 300 people there and had a lovely evening, after reading some of the Luau reports we were a bit apprehensive of paying so much but if you make good use of the open bar it is just about worth the money.
The beach is of slightly coarse sand but the surrounding and sharing the beach with turtles more than make up for that. Was wonderful to be able to snorkle a few strokes from the beach and be swimming in a tropical aquarium! You can even see baracudas and moray eels in the ancient fishponds.
The rooms as others have written are a little smaller but are well furnished and we had no problems and even had a view to the ocean even though we we on the side of the hotel.
Another advantage is the shops in the neighbourhood.
We would go back tomorrow given the chance!

Excellent hotel from start to finish, slightly expensive compared to some of the others in the area but i would defnintely return to this one.

Upon arrival you are met with effecient and freindly staff, the rooms are just lovely and the views spectacular, the bed is one of the most comfortable i've ever slept in!! The hotel is fabulous, and in a great spot with the Kings shops a short walk away - great for a cheaper snack of quick meal. Parking is complimentary to guests and a car on Big island is a must for seeing the sights (driving is a breeze, we did the whole island in a day and it was so worth it). Free wi-fi available, and the onsite Luau looks great - you basically get it free if you have a late swim and can watch the entertainment from the pool. - The Luau at paradise cove on Oahu is by far the best in Hawaii though, if you are visiting more than one place. Restaurants on site are very expensive though and get very busy.

This hotel is a short car journey up the coast from the airport, the beach is good, but about another twenty minutes further up the shore is hapuna beach and several other spectacular beaches, very quiet and definitely worth a visit. Volcanoes National Park is definitely a must see.

Our family of 11 - grandparents, adult children, teens, and young children, stayed in the Waikoloa Beach Marriott in early April and all give it two thumbs up. Although there was a snafu with our reservation, it was taken care of quickly and as a result, the hotel gave us one of our rooms almost free. The rooms were small, but had very comfortable beds. The ocean views from all rooms were spectacular and treated us to a beautiful sunset. A-Bay, the beach, the grounds, and the pools are absolutely gorgeous. There is a special sandy pool for toddlers, one with a great waterslide, and a big infinity pool. Everyone enjoyed the breakfast buffet and drinks by the pool. We had seen some mixed reviews, so we were pleasantly surprised by our experience at the Marriott. It exceeded our expectations. We would definitely stay here again.

This was our 3rd stay at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa - 1st trip was in 2003 when it was owned by the Outrigger; 2nd trip in 2004. We had pleasant trips & decided to definitely stay there for our 2009 trip. The hotel has drastically changed. They once gave beach pails to the kids with their lunch, now they do not do anything for the kids. There was unfotunately a company "group" staying at the hotel at the same time that had occupied several hundred rooms. They were allowed to drink heavily and the music at the pool was very loud and profane. They were staggering drunk in the middle of the day and were still allowed to buy more alcohol well into the late evening and were not cut off no matter how staggering or loud they became. The lounge at night would stay open very late also playing loud music. All of this heavy drinking even produced a domestic violence incident across the hall from us. You could hear the profane music from the pool way down on the beach and on one of the days the hotel allowed them to have a very loud live band on the beach in the afternoon and on into sunset. To their credit, when we complained about all the inappropriate music at all times of the day and night , the drunkeness in front of our young daughter at all times of the day and the domestic violence across the hall, when we finally had enough after a few days of this and complained, the night manager immediately found comparable accomodations for us at another hotel. If you plan to stay with small children you may want to make sure that a large group will not be staying at the same time as they will not be controlled and the rules will not apparently apply to them.

We were very impressed with the services and facilities of this resort. Every person we encountered from the porter to concierge to business center to bartender was helpful, friendly and proactive. Our room had an ocean view and was well designed with the sink separate from the shower. The chairs in the room and on the patio were comfortable and it was attractively decorated -- a great place to rest.

The resort newsletter was helpful and offered something for everyone. We enjoyed the layout of pools, hot tubs and beach. While we did not use the exercise room, it was doing a brisk business. We did take advantage of the breakfast buffet, and it was first rate. We had two meals in the dining room where the food and service was very good.

Since it had been quite a while since we attended a luau, we decided to give it a go. The performance and food was good, not great. You don’t need to attend a luau very often.

We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this location.
