Great spot for sunbathing and seeing sea turtles.
Beach is beautiful, although not big, but then, none are
on the big Island.

As experienced snorkelers this beach wasn't thrilling but it is suoer easy to get to and get in. We saw turtles on every visit but water ckarity is average at best and there is littl coral. Would be great for beginning snorkelers or those just wabpnting a clean beach with bathrooms.

Anaehoomalu, or A-Bay, has outstanding lodging, restaurants, shops, activities, and beaches. It is its own community, an upscale community. The public beach is one of the better ones due to the parking provided, the bathrooms and showers, and the pickup/drop off zone. I return here on every trip to Hawaii.

For those of you who have never visited the Big Island, there is not an abundance of white sandy beaches. There are several really good ones but the island is mostly lava rock beachside. A Bay as Anaehoomalu is referred to is a good local beach for the hotels near by. They have a sports shack that will rent you everything from kayaks, water bikes, stand up paddle boards etc. If you like to scuba dive or fish the only local boats are at A Bay. Waikoloa Coast Divers & Sportfishing is the name of that business. Excellent experiences with them.

A lovely golden sand beach set off the King Kam fish ponds. We spend 5 days sitting out on the beach, swimming and snorkelling for hours and enjoying the heat of Waikoloa sun. We stayed in the Marriott so it felt like we had our own private beach but with the Beach Club and Ocean Sports services there is plenty to do.

If you like sand, sea, palm tress swaying in the trade winds and the promise of hot sun, come to A Bay! A classic.
