“Excellent Sushi”
Reviewed June 29, 2010

A local took us here one night and we liked it so much we had to come back the next night. Service was much better the second night but the food was excellent both nights. I'm no expert on sushi, but this was the best I've ever had.

We tried numerous items, all were good to excellent. The butterfish in miso was so tasty we had to have it both nights. To be honest we tried so many different things I can't remember them all but the rainbow roll and the spicy tuna roll were both terrific.

Definitely recommended.

“Great sushi”

I've eaten here several times, at least once a week when I'm on the island. This is one of my favorite restaurants.

“subpar & overpriced food plus slow & rude service”
Reviewed May 30, 2010

We just had dinner at this restaurant tonight. We got a recommendation from our hotel's concierge who raved about the sushi. For a Saturday night, the restaurant was fairly busy so understandably we had to wait a few moments for the waitress to come and take our drink orders. Since we were told the sushi is so good, we decided to give it a shot. We ordered the Sansei special and the mango/crab hand roll. When we asked for no masago and no mayo, we were told we would have to pay an additional $5 per roll for real crab meat. The rolls were priced at about $12-14 each to begin with-- kind of strange that you don't get real crab meat to start of with... In any case, we decided to pay the extra $5. To start, we ordered edamame, and for entree, we ordered an avocado soup & grilled mahi mahi and an order of pan seared tuna with crab cake and furikaki rice. The service was SLOW. We waited about 30 minutes before our soggy and possibly microwaved edamame arrived. And then another 20 minutes before our sushi was served. Both rolls were interestingly plated and tasted fine-- but when you're paying $17-19 per roll, you'd expect a little more pizazz. Onto the entrees. The pan seared tuna was decent and the crab cake was interesting (in a good way) but the sauce that was drizzled on the dishes made the entire dish TOO salty. The mahi mahi came out & looked well intentioned-- but the first bite tasted like someone had opened a jar of sea salt and indiscriminately tossed a handful on a 3" by 3" thinly sliced fish! When we called the waitress over, she rudely told us to "hang on" and then 10 minutes later, whisked by and took the plate back to the kitchen. We waited yet another 20 minutes before the dish was re-served. Meanwhile, the tuna was getting cold and we both just wanted to leave. All in all, this restaurant is not worth the time, money, or wait. There are better places that serve better food at better prices all without an ounce of attitude from the staff.

“you have to have sushi here”
Reviewed April 15, 2010

On our first night we lucked out to have dinner here. Romano's Macaroni had such a long wait and we could not wait five minutes for dinner after our long journey. We were seated immediately and our server informed us about the specials. We had the best sushi in a very long time. Their panko crusted ahi tuna roll is delicious. They also serve grass fed beef. Meat portions are huge. There is full bar. Service is quick. DOn't fill yourself up, leave room for fried macademia nut ice cream. It is to die for!

“Excellent Asian restaurant”
Reviewed April 13, 2010

What a surprise. We called ahead for a reservation and they suggested we go at 5:30 for a 20% discount. Good thing we did...there was a line for reservations and a line for walk-ins. The food is excellent and so fresh. Service friendly and prompt. Highly recommend.
