We recently stayed in the Ola'a cottage for two nights. It was just like the pictures show. Very clean and comfortable. Great location for exploring the area. Breakfast was very good, plenty of options. We ate dinner at the restaurant one night. It was excellent with a few unusual (but good) options. Would definitely stay here again.

My husband, two children, and I stayed at the Ola'a Plantation house just prior to Christmas. The staff at the lodge were very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was great and I felt the choices were very generous. I was a bit worried after reading a couple of reviews that stated the choices were somewhat limited. We all left very satisfied. When staff learned that we had to check out very early for an early flight, they offered to provide us with boxed breakfasts that could be prepared the night before. The cottage was beautiful and well furnished. We did not do any cooking, but the kitchen was well stocked. The fireplace was a nice bonus as it did get pretty chilly at night. Beds were all comfortable and the house was very clean. There were beautiful flowers growing around the house - including orchids! The house was located just up the road from the Volcanoes National Park. I would definitely return and highly recommend!

We stayed here over Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed it. We stayed in both the Pi'i Mauna House and in The Hideaway. Pi'i Moana is about 4 miles off property, located in a nearby golf community. We loved that it was two separate cabins with a hottub in between. It is perfect for a family with older children. We cooked dinner and enjoyed the evening in front of the fireplace (gas). Later that evening, we looked up at the night sky to see all of the stars. It was beautiful. Kilauea Lodge is very close to the entrance to Volcano National Park. We enjoyed a full day at the park, exploring different trails, and visiting the Jaggar Museum. Then we returned to Kilauea Lodge and stayed in The Hideway which is a second story loft. It is large, open and very roomy. The surrounding rainforest is beautiful and we listened to the rain on the roof later in the evening. The breakfast served at the main Lodge was excellent with a number of selections. You can also choose between orange juice or one-half of a papaya. I highly recommend the papaya. Every day, the papaya we got was ripe, juicy and very sweet. We would definitely stay at Kilauea Lodge again.

We stayed 2 nights at the O'la Plantation cottage at Kilauea lodge. We were two adults and two kids. It was quite large with a wonderful gas fireplace. The restoration of this 1935 cottage was perfect - retained period character and decor but very modern amenities in the bathroom and sufficiently modern in the kitchen. We wished we had longer the stay. The breakfasts at the main lodge were terrific - a really nice bonus to the peaceful nights in the cottage.

the place is good but no thrills...room is a bit smallish and the fireplace didn't work on the first night when we checked in, it was fixed next day and we were offered to move to a different room if we wanted next day. Other than that a good property, but could be a bit better I suppose. The location is convenient to the Volcano National Park, only about 8-10 minutes by car if not less.

The rooms and property is "just there"...there is not enough attention to details in design, service, property...it just is a comfortable enough place to stay. It left us wanting more. Not sure if it has to do with the price point, but at 200$+ a night, I feel we could get a better deal.

The one warning is to do with the included breakfast. Stay away. The restaurant itself is borderline amazing for dinner (we had a dinner there on our first night and it was really really really good food, that leaves you happy and full), but turns into a crappy dinner for breakfast. Clearly it's not the same kitchen team. Coffee is the worst I've had in Hawaii, eggs are just ok etc. and the worst thing it makes you stomachs turn for the remainder of the first half of the day. We did it for two days and then gave up. Had food elsewhere, even though it was paid for. So just go there for dinner unless you are really tight on budget. The only thing that is good for breakfast was the papaya with lime...never had it before and lime on papaya is AMAZING!

Room Tip: there isn't much view to speak of, so just get any room and you will be fine. We stayed in "...

We thoroughly enjoyed our 6 days at Kilauea Lodge. We stayed in Tutu's Cottage, which was spacious, extremely comfortable and absolutely sweet. Breakfasts included every day at the lodge were excellent and we had dinner and lunch a couple times there too -- everything was extremely good. Really friendly and personable service. We loved this place. The community is kind of scattered and spread out, very quiet. But a farmers' market on Sundays, live music in the local cafe, a winery nearby and the park nearby -- so plenty to do.

Stayed here for 1 night. It’s only a 10 minute dive to Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. The cottage that we stayed in was very comfortable and clean. The breakfast, which was included in the room rate, was excellent. I would stay here again.
