My husband and i stayed here 2 nights for our honeymoon while visiting the Volcano National Park. We had a great time! The rooms are beautiful and rustic-looking. The entire place is very "homey" and if you need anything, the staff is there to help. When you stay here, complimentary breakfast is also included each day, and it is delicious. You can order a picnic lunch for the next day which includes a sandwich, chips, cookie, and water - perfect for us during our day exploring the volcanoes. The staff also allowed us to borrow a cooler to keep our lunches cool during the day. My only complaint is that dinner at the restaurant was a bit expensive.

We called in to the Lodge on the advice of friends who live on the island on our way to see the volcano at night. The lodge is beautiful and the staff were great (particularly Kim). Food however was OK but very expensive for what it was. There was a lot of it but ordinary and the key lime pie was far to sharp. Shame really cause it would be a place worth considering again but not sure I'd make the effort.

We wanted to stay one night so that we can see the volcano at night, and Tutu's Place fitted the bill for our party of 5.

Tutu's is located only a few minutes from the main lodge. The house was airy and clean and was lovingly restored. We pulled into a driveway lined with a row of beautiful hydrangeas and a house decorated with vases of tropical flowers, which added to the charm.

We noticed the beautiful stain glass windows in the kitchen the next morning. The breakfast (complimentary) and the dinner at the main lodge was very good and plentiful.

The only drawback was some squeaky floors (the house is old!) and a shower control that fell out when I tried to use it. Otherwise, this place really transported me to a bygone era.

We recently stayed at Kilauea Lodge and were pleasently surprised by it. The rooms are clean, comfortable, nicely appointed and spacious. The bathrooms are a decent size and clean; they also have a nice towel warmer rack. We stayed in room 9 which was specially nice because it had it's own private entrance, was surrounded by windows overlooking the lovely garden, and it was on the ground floor (no carrying lugagge one floor up!)

It's well located if you'll be exploring the Volcano National Park, right of Route 11. We went to Kalapana for a lava tour, and it was an easy 50 min drive back.

The overall setting of the lodge is simply lovely with beautiful gardens, a green field and a kiosk out front. And there was an inviting seatting area with tv off the rooms in our area.

The breakfast was delicious; and the restaurant is very cozy with a seating area around the fireplace.

The staff were very accommodating and friendly; our room was ready eventhough we arrived early. This is also one of the few lodges that will take guests for only one night in Volcano.

I'd definitely return and recommend it to friends.

We stayed two nights in the Cottage at the Kilauea Lodge in Volcano, a short five minutes away from HVNP. The Cottage was a beautifully maintained two room cabin with a bedroom, small living room w/ gas stove and bathroom. The rooms were very clean and made a perfect home base for our exploration of the national park. The room did not have a television or telephone and, quite frankly, we didn't miss them one bit. The staff at the lodge could not have been nicer. In addition, the lodge has a terrific restaurant where we enjoyed both breakfast and dinner. We did not use the common room at the lodge or the hot tub. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the lodge and recommend it enthusiastically

This time we stayed in the Hideaway room which was large, secluded and quiet. It is so nice to be close to the park. When the weather is good you can zap up at night and see the glow coming from the volcano. The Hideway was clean and the housekeeper terrific. That said, it could be better. It is next to impossible to watch tv from the couch which is situated to face the fireplace, and unfortunately, the bathroom/tub area needs some maintenance/updating. The location is close to the restaurant and the general store. If we go back to Volcano we definitely would stay there.

Our family of four stayed in the Ola'a Plantation House for two nights while visiting Hawaii Volcano National Park.

The Plantation House is located on Hale Ohia Road, and is a short drive from both the Lodge and HVNP. It has been very nicely restored and furnished, and is a very roomy and comfortable place to stay while visiting HVNP. It has two bedrooms, a nice bathroom, a very large living room, a small dining room, and a full-size kitchen that is fully-stocked with high quality kitchenware. Since the dining options in the immediate area are limited, and Hilo is 45 minutes away, it was nice to have all the tools we needed to eat a nice meal "at home" if we chose. We ended up having pasta and salad for dinner one night and eating at the Lodge the next night.

Our rationale for choosing the Plantation House was as follows: We thought the accomodations would be very comfortable in the event we experienced bad weather. We also thought staying in a fully-restored Plantation House might be a neat experience given the history of Kilauea Lodge and the area in general. Lastly, we liked the fact that a hot breakfast, served at the Lodge, was included in the rate. We were very satisfied with our choice and enjoyed our stay. Staying a third night might have been even better as it would have given us more time to explore areas away from HVNP and still return to nice, comfortable accomodations.

Should our travels ever take us to the HVNP area again, we would gladly stay again at the Kilauea Lodge/Ola'a Plantation House. It is an ideal set-up for a family of four and we would recommend it to others without hesitation.

Room Tip: The Plantation House is a little expensive but it really was a nice place to stay. If you are only...
