Description: Kilauea Lodge and Restaurant, located in the quiet village of Volcano, sits on 5 acres of gardens and gazebos and native forest. This hotel restaurant features a large fireplace, local art, koa tables, and is open nightly. Chef/owner Albert Jeyte blends flavors from his European background with farm, ranch and seafood products from Hawaii, the surrounding Pacific and elsewhere. Volcano Village is at 3700 feet elevation and evenings are often cool and misty. The historic fireplace welcomes guests with it's cheery fire. Home made soups and breads tease the appetite. Albert specializes in unusual game...venison, antelope, rabbit, duck. The biggest sellers are local fish dishes; ahi, ono, mahimahi and the exotic Tristan lobster. A large wine list complements the eclectic menu.

“Great meal, lotta history!”
Reviewed May 13, 2014

We stayed at The Volcano House for two nights. First dinner was there, second dinner here.
Both had amazing and different cuisines!

But what sets this one off is the history behind it.
I won't ruin it for you, but when you go, ask for the history pages. It talks all about it and how it came to be.
Look at the fireplace. You'll know you want to know more...

I had the rabbit, and it was done in the German fashion. Awesome! The wife got Duck à l'Orange. Man! The flavors were so well balanced and the meat was fantastic! Great, friendly service and very reasonable prices (for Hawaii, lol!). Gets busy, limited parking. Make reservations way ahead of time.

I'd definitely go back. Nicely done!

“Excellent dinner in a cozy and inviting room”
Reviewed May 9, 2014

This restaurant has beautiful artwork and an historic feel to it. It reminds me of some of the old lodges in the national parks. $50 per person is about right if you don't have dessert or drink more than one glass of wine. The service was impeccable and the Ono was expertly prepared. I chose the curried pea soup and it was one of the best soups I've ever had. Rich and very original.
Even though it was May the night was chilly and the fireplace provided that extra touch of warmth and romance. Really special end to our vacation as we were leaving the next day. The only way I could envision this room being noisy would be if there were a private party taking up several tables.

“Best place in town”
Reviewed April 30, 2014

Excellent dinner. Attentive, friendly, service. Beautiful room I had the duck which was outstanding. My partner had the steak which was equally good. The prices were in line with what I would expect for such a great experience.

“Excellent.”
Reviewed April 26, 2014 via mobile

Good food, really pleasant and atmospheric, fireplace etc. Not loud at all. (Don't know what the other reviewer is talking about; noise must be in her head...)
Far and away more atmospheric than Volcano House, where we stayed. (great room though at VH..). Don't even think of not having a dessert... Not cheap, figure $50 each, but well worth it.
We would definitely go back.
