Description: Kilauea Lodge and Restaurant, located in the quiet village of Volcano, sits on 5 acres of gardens and gazebos and native forest. This hotel restaurant features a large fireplace, local art, koa tables, and is open nightly. Chef/owner Albert Jeyte blends flavors from his European background with farm, ranch and seafood products from Hawaii, the surrounding Pacific and elsewhere. Volcano Village is at 3700 feet elevation and evenings are often cool and misty. The historic fireplace welcomes guests with it's cheery fire. Home made soups and breads tease the appetite. Albert specializes in unusual game...venison, antelope, rabbit, duck. The biggest sellers are local fish dishes; ahi, ono, mahimahi and the exotic Tristan lobster. A large wine list complements the eclectic menu.

“Luxury in Volcano”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

This is easily the most upscale dining Volcano has to offer, but that doesn't mean you won't find patrons in jeans and t-shirts -- you can chose to dress up or dress down and you'll feel comfortable either way. The menu is a bit pricey, but not out of line for Hawaii costs. The food is simply delicious. Lunch, breakfast, and Sunday brunch menus are cheaper than the dinner but equally tasty. Many of the lunch/brunch ingredients are locally sourced and noted on the menu. The full-meal salads are fantastic as are the lovely soups served with the dinners.

“Special Occasion Dining Place”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

If you have a special occasion to celebrate that you might want to go to the Kilauea Lodge. The service is very good and the menu has a wide range of options. It can be pricey. If you call ahead for an anniversary or birthday reservation, they will make a special menu for the occasion and will take a mini polaroid to celebrate the event.

“Still not sure.....”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

Upon entering the Kilauea Lodge for breakfast, we were asked if we were staying at the lodge. The waitress seemed surprised and repeated, "OH, you're NOT?!" We're still not sure what difference it made.

My husband ordered banana pancakes and although they were good, there was only one slice of banana on them. Nothing else indicated they were banana pancakes. We're still not sure why they were advertised as such.

The dining room is nice and the food was OK. We would probably give it another try, maybe for lunch or dinner.

“Disappointing”
Reviewed March 2, 2014

Probably the nicest place to eat in volcano with a small menu that changes daily. Its not for picky eaters. But when I cut into my home made meatball to find a hair ball (not just a hair. A hairball)
I was a little upset. The waitress was horrified when she saw it and took it away immediately and offered to get me something els. If I wasn't starved from hiking all day we would have left and there are not many other options in the area. And the only compensation was our 2 free drinks!
