Description: Kilauea Lodge and Restaurant, located in the quiet village of Volcano, sits on 5 acres of gardens and gazebos and native forest. This hotel restaurant features a large fireplace, local art, koa tables, and is open nightly. Chef/owner Albert Jeyte blends flavors from his European background with farm, ranch and seafood products from Hawaii, the surrounding Pacific and elsewhere. Volcano Village is at 3700 feet elevation and evenings are often cool and misty. The historic fireplace welcomes guests with it's cheery fire. Home made soups and breads tease the appetite. Albert specializes in unusual game...venison, antelope, rabbit, duck. The biggest sellers are local fish dishes; ahi, ono, mahimahi and the exotic Tristan lobster. A large wine list complements the eclectic menu.

We had lunch at Kilauea Lodge before visiting the Volcano National Park, which is located about a mile away. Everything was very good and the service was excellent. We liked the restored historic old dining room. We will be back.

This place offers THE BEST gluten free bread I've ever had. You have to ask for it and it's expensive ($1.25 a slice) but sooooo worth it. I didn't eat much of anything else. I begged the waitress to give me the recipe but no luck. If you have to live gluten free, put this place at the top of your list.

Amazing food, amazing service, great rooms ( although we could not get a room this time we had to go back for dinner) it was so good we went 2 nights in a row! Everything is cooked to perfection, the staffer e great, Kanani is a true credit to them and made our dining experience truly wonderful, so helpful, knowledgable and friendly, you are made to feel so welcome and really appreciated.
Anyway food, great, it will not matter what you eat from soup to deserts, they are all amazing. They have some great chefs that are helping them make a great name and reputation as a fine dining establishment!

You may not think of finding a gourmet meal at 4,000 feet on the island of Hawaii near Volcano National Park in what appears to be next to nowhere but the restaurant at Kilauea Lodge is a gem. My wife and I had been at the park in the afternoon catching the glow of the caldera as the sun went down (and the rain came in) and stumbled upon the lodge while looking for gas and a place to eat before returning to the Hōnaunau area. I had seen a review online but did not expect to come across it. Hawaii is truly a casual place, we walked in wearing shorts and hiking boots and the staff did not bat an eye, seating us and providing excellent service. Wide variety on the menu with wine, and when appropriate, beer parings. We had two German dishes in Hawaii and enjoyed it as some meals we have had in Bavaria. The only downside was we couldn't make the 160 mile round trip again to try some of the other dishes.

We arrived just before closing (a group of seven) and the staff was friendly and welcoming. We had a few special requests for food and they accommodated all of our requests without hesitation. The restaurant attempts to be a little upscale and they succeed with a nice atmosphere and excellent food. Of course the price is a bit upscale but you get reasonable value for the money. In the large dining room they seemed capable of providing a nice meal for the entire family or a romantic dinner for "date" night or just a sandwich and drink.
