Description: Kilauea Lodge and Restaurant, located in the quiet village of Volcano, sits on 5 acres of gardens and gazebos and native forest. This hotel restaurant features a large fireplace, local art, koa tables, and is open nightly. Chef/owner Albert Jeyte blends flavors from his European background with farm, ranch and seafood products from Hawaii, the surrounding Pacific and elsewhere. Volcano Village is at 3700 feet elevation and evenings are often cool and misty. The historic fireplace welcomes guests with it's cheery fire. Home made soups and breads tease the appetite. Albert specializes in unusual game...venison, antelope, rabbit, duck. The biggest sellers are local fish dishes; ahi, ono, mahimahi and the exotic Tristan lobster. A large wine list complements the eclectic menu.

“nice dinner”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 27, 2013

Our dinner service started out very good. The potato leek soup was excellent, as was the Hawaiian bread. Their signature Margarita was fantastic. However, our service declined throughout the meal. My ono was over-cooked and when we were finished with our meal it took us 45 minutes to get desert and our check. We were not only ones in our section waiting around for our waitress.

Food was good, service also. We loved the decor and also decided to stay there the next time we visit.

“Fabulous Dining.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 27, 2013

The Lodge is a perfect place for a "fancy" special occasion or a casual meal... and is often both! We have walked in wearing dressier attire or tshirts and shorts. Fine German food is found here and exotic local flavors like passionfruit, Okinawan sweet potato and other treats are always part of the menu. Grass-fed local beef is featured along with more unusual fare such as rabbit, ostrich, and buffalo. Dinner runs a bit more, but if you want the atmosphere without the higher bill, I highly suggest breakfast and/or lunch. Only once were we not 100% pleased with the food, but it was a matter of taste (we ordered the rabbit - which we had never had before) and NOT the cooking! Service is always excellent and the atmosphere is warm and cozy. The fireplace is a lovely addition and be sure to notice the rocks, plaques, and medallions from around the world embedded in the fireplace facade. The food is not skimpy, we always leave satisfied. Leave room for dessert... a wonderful variety of treats await your selection - we usually order different things and share so we don't miss out on getting a taste of something yummy!

“Best eating in Volcano”

The menu is certainly exotic at the Kilauea Lodge. Our dinner was memorable and delicious. Make sure you make a reservation in advance. After dinner you can bask in Pele's glow.

“Our Favorite”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2013

Eat there on our last night. Wish I had tried it earlier. We spent 5 night at the volcano and 9 at Kona, and this was our favorite on the whole island. Highly recommend.
