Description: Kilauea Lodge and Restaurant, located in the quiet village of Volcano, sits on 5 acres of gardens and gazebos and native forest. This hotel restaurant features a large fireplace, local art, koa tables, and is open nightly. Chef/owner Albert Jeyte blends flavors from his European background with farm, ranch and seafood products from Hawaii, the surrounding Pacific and elsewhere. Volcano Village is at 3700 feet elevation and evenings are often cool and misty. The historic fireplace welcomes guests with it's cheery fire. Home made soups and breads tease the appetite. Albert specializes in unusual game...venison, antelope, rabbit, duck. The biggest sellers are local fish dishes; ahi, ono, mahimahi and the exotic Tristan lobster. A large wine list complements the eclectic menu.

The menu, decoration, and prices are deceptive. You hope you are in an excellent place, but instead discover strong disappointment. The food is pretentious; salad dressing flavor was far too strong and overwhelmed the contents. The "nutmeg chicken" is dry, and so over seasoned as to be inedible. The Ono fish, common on the Island, is tasteless. Service was uneven and slow, and nearly impossible to get once you request the bill. Prices are far above anything else on the Island.

McDonalds is a far better deal and flavor, and only a few miles down the road!

The dining room was decked out for Christmas ... what a sight and a nice cosy feeling! We had lunch one day and decided to return the next day for dinner. Exceptional food and service. Would definitely return to again enjoy the food and perhaps stay a few nights (located nearby to Kilauea Volcano and National Park). We use to stay at Volcano House (situated within the Park on the rim of the volcano) but this establishment has since closed down.

Kilauea Lodge is the best meal we had while we stayed in the area. All the food was delicious and the service was great.
The place was very busy the night we went. I suggest calling ahead and making reservations. Thanks to Berry at Creator Rim Lodge we knew to plan ahead.

We decided to splurge and go to this place and I had an excellent evening. The Service was absolutely perfect. My food was very good (but expensive), my partner didn't like her dish as much. Overall, I really like this place. it is a beautiful lodge and it felt very cozy inside.

My wife and I had a wonderful meal at this lodge. With a European flair on their menu, there are a lot of interesting options. The decor is very cozy and makes you feel like you are in a European hunting lodge. This was one of our favorite meals on the Big Island. Highly recommended.
