We spent one night at Volcano Inn but wished it had been longer! Very beautiful surroundings and very clean inn. Floor-to-ceiling windows on two walls with a beautiful view of the rainforest. It looked and felt like you were sleeping in a treehouse but instead were in a very clean and comfortable room....the best of both worlds! Super-friendly staff who were very happy to answer any questions. We definitely hope to be able to stay there again for a longer period.

This gem of a place was quiet, peaceful and lovely. And all that at a truly bargain price. We stayed for 2 nights in a "standard room" which far exceeded my expectations.

This is not a luxury hotel, nor a B+B, but a charming cozy inn with side-by-side duplex cabin rooms (smartly designed so adjoining rooms share their only a common wall in the bathroom). We never heard our neighbors, and with the peaceful views of the fern trees and rainforest, it felt like we were in our own private retreat in the wilderness.

The rooms have great attention to details, and seem very new and clean. The bathroom floor tile, tub/shower combo, room floor (cork with throw rugs) were spotless, shiny and new-looking. Towels were good quality. The microwave, fridge, coffee maker, tea bags and basic utensils and dishes (ceramic mugs, paper plates/bowls) made it easy to have breakfast and coffee in the room. There are heaters in both the bathroom and main room, a towel warmer and electric blanket (it does get both chilly and damp in the rain forest, and while we preferred to use the extra blanket to the heater, it was nice to have). The bed was a firm and comfortable queen. The room was paneled with polished wood, which gives it a warm and homey feel.

As I said earlier, this is not a bed and breakfast. We met the friendly owner, Ron, at check-in, and did not see him after that (though we did not need to). He made himself available for questions etc, but we did not have any. We appreciated the privacy and quiet this place provided.

I would have paid more and still felt this place was a great bargain- as is, it is practically a steal. I had a great experience here, and would recommend it to travelers looking for a cozy, peaceful stay at a great value.

Of note, it is not in "Volcano village" but in a residential neighborhood about a mile from the small strip of shops and restaurants in Volcano.

And finally, regarding dampness- it is in the rainforest. It rains almost daily; the air is very humid even when it isn't raining. That same air will feel humid in the rooms as well, though there was no smell of mold or mildew, nor a feeling of dampness in the room.

This by far is the best bargin on the Big Island. It is on the rainier side but is wonderfully placed in a rain forest in Volcano, Hawaii. The room I stayed in was big and very clean and comfortable. Ron is a wonderful host and not a pest. He is very knowledgable about the island. I stayed at this place for 2 weeks. The only down side is that it is at least 30 minutes from the nearest beach but you do need to rent a car anyway in Hawaii.

Be very careful when you contact them. Be sure to use
the website VolcanoInnHawaii.com it is important to inculde the work Hawaii.

My wife and I just spent 10 days on the big island to celebrate our 30th. We booked all 10 nights at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa north of Kona which was really nice. One of the side trips we wanted to take was to go to the Volcano, but after looking at all the things to do we decided to find a hotel and spend one night. We discovered the Volcano Inn on the internet and after reading reviews from tripadvisor we decided to give it a try.

The hotel was easy to find and we were very impressed with not only the room but overall. This is a gem folks, if you are looking fro a great place to stay this is it, I wish we could had stayed an extra night, but they were booked the rest of the week.

Also they do not take credit cards, so you must send them a check or money order in advance.

Overall if you are looking for a great hotel I would stay here again.

Also note there is another hotel with this name, the hotel is located at:

11-3832 Second Street. This is not a mailing address.

I can only reiterate the views previously expressed. My stay was unfortunately for just one night. I could have happily stayed here much longer.

The room was warm, light flooded, clean, comfortable and oh, the wonderful jungle just outside the large corner windows. What a delight.

I admired the cork floor which was warm and sound absorbing, the towel
warmer a touch of luxury.

The kitchenette offered tea and coffee, but although Volcano Inn calls
itself a B&B, breakfast is not included in the price. I paid $99.16 for one night. Expensive for my budget, but very well worth the splurge. I could not have been more satisified had I been in a $350/
night room at The Ritz, and if The Ritz guests knew about Volcano Inn,
they would wish that they were there instead.

Visiting the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is such an awesome experience, we were glad that we took more than one day to see it. Since we were staying a week on the other side of the island at the Waikoloa Hilton, we drove our rental car to Volcano and saw the sites along the Hilo side of the island along the way. We stayed at the lovely Volcano Inn at the Village of Volcano, just one mile from the park entrance. The price of our stay was very reasonable and we enjoyed our stay there. The Volcano Inn sits in a beautiful rain forest and we were wowed by the giant tree ferns right outside our huge picture windows of our room. A misting rain and cool temps were very pleasant too. The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable and our room, which was half of a cottage, was very comfortable and nice. The in room coffee made with rain water is YUMMY! There are a few small restaurants a few blocks away and the food was good. The village is very small and friendly. We highly recommend the Volcano Inn!
Just remember to bring a rain proof parka for this trip! We saw a lot of people who were very cold and wet because they did not have a rain coat for the park.
