This B&B is about as small as they come. We stayed here because of what we read online. Da place only has two units from what we could see. The unit we stayed in was enormous for a studio. The studio unit had a large king bed, huge full kitchen, a little seating area with a TV and fireplace heater. The heater is one of those fake fireplaces that created a warm, cozy environment.
The Volcano area is lacking with places to eat. We had breakfast in every morning. For lunch we went to some of the local restaurants. For dinner one night we cooked in. The other night we picked up a pizza at the convenience store. It wasn't too bad considering.

Mahalo for writing a review for our property. 5th Street Ohana, as you said, has two units. Queen Emma, the studio you stayed in, is very spacious and cozy. We find that the fireplace adds a nice aesthetic touch and keeps the place warm on cooler days.

Guests love that 5th Street Ohana provides some breakfast foods to help get you started in the morning. While we know Volcano Village has only a have few restaurants, we are always happy to recommend guests to particular restaurants.

Thanks again! The management

We stayed at 5th Street Ohana and had a nice stay. The place is in a quiet neighborhood and when we were there it was as if the place belonged to us.
Our room was huge and very clean. It even had a full kitchen. We ate out for lunch and dinner during our stay. But, you could cook in if you so desire.
We did have rain for most of our stay, but that is to be expected.

My husband and I stayed here after we stayed in 2 rooms in Hilo. This place was a welcome sight after the dump we stayed at in Hilo. The place is close to everything you would want to see in Volcano. The owners thought of everything for our comfort. The two room setup was perfuct for our travel needs. There was an electric fireplace in all the rooms and that was a nice treat in the cooler evenings.
We did pick up afew things for breakfast, but there was a lot to choose from with what was in the house for us when we checked in.
At night, the place is dark and you can see thousands of stars.

Room Tip: We stayed in the two bedroom unit and it was like a home.

Aloha and thank you for taking the time to write a review of 5th Street Ohana.

We are pleased to know that you felt this was a home away from home during your time on the Big Island. It is our goal to make sure the needs of our guests are met while staying at any of our properties. While Hilo has some beautiful and unique places to see, there is just something majestic about staying in the rainforest in Volcano Village. Our cooler temps (mid-50s to mid-70s) provide a nice relief from the warmer temps along the coast - something we like to call our "natural air conditioning".

We hope that your adventures bring you back to our area again. We would love to see you in the future!

We traveled with family on this trip and decided to book 5th Street Ohana. The property offered breakfast and a 2 bedroom house. There was 1 bathroom, but for a family it was all we needed.
The owner puts food in the refrigerator and then you get to make the breakfast as you desisre. Only problem is that the food they give you is all that you have during your stay. We used up much of our food the first and second day. Honestly, there was enough for our entire stay, but we ate some as snacks and a late dinner one evening.
They filled the house with plenty of cooking supplies. There are binoculars and flashlights for sightseeing and safety. By safety I mean because it gets so dark. Good for seeing stars at night.
The living room was a little chilly for me even with the heater on. The bedrooms were plenty and hot and almost too hot by morning.

Mahalo nui loa for the 5 star review! We appreciate you taking the time to sit down and write a review of our property.

Since Volcano Village has limited options for food, we provide some basic breakfast ingredients for our 5th Street Ohana guests to help them get started. These items include eggs, bread, milk, juice, water, and fresh fruit. We provide a certain amount based on the number of nights and guests that will be staying with us.

Our Innkeepers leave information inside the guest rooms with local stores where more supplies can be picked up. The full kitchens allow for our guests to be creative with their meals. We encourage guests to let us know about dietary preferences prior to their arrival so that we can provide ingredients to match their needs (i.e. allergies, gluten free, lactose free, etc).

We hope to see you again in the future!

We picked this place from Bookings.com and we were so pleased with our choice. The place is on a secluded road not far from the Volcano. There were 2 rooms. We stayed in the smaller of the two and it was plenty big for us.
We liked the fireplace heater that made us warm. The robes and food were also nice. We could have had a little more food, but the set up was nice.
Volcano is chilly at night and we appreciated the blankets. We were happy.

Aloha! Thank you for your kind words.

We are happy to hear that you were warm and cozy at the 5th Street Ohana's Queen Emma unit. While temps can get down to the mid-50s at night, our fireplace heaters keep the two cottages at the perfect temp!

Mahalo!
