“Clean, attractive, comfortable, quiet: what more could you want?”
Reviewed November 9, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

The owner was very helpful when I made a booking error, easy to contact when we had a question, a font of information, and, yes, very clear about her expectations. That is probably why her cottage was in such good condition.

“Wonderful Hawaiian house”
Reviewed October 24, 2016 for a stay in October 2016

We enjoyed the Hawaiian style house. Appreciated the map don't try and find it without! Also loved the activity book. Enjoyed coffee in the morning on the patio and garden. Nice change of pace from the resorts.

“Loved it!”
Reviewed October 12, 2016 for a stay in October 2016

This cottage was absolutely beautiful. We appreciated that there were flashlights, umbrellas, and a cooler available for use. The kitchen had every utensil you could think of, and was stocked with coffee, hot cocoa, and popcorn! We also liked that each side of the bed had its own heating pad. But I think the best part was how incredibly clean the place was! I only hope I have the chance to stay there again!

“What a gem”
Reviewed September 23, 2016 for a stay in September 2016

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely oasis. It was the perfect location for exploring the national park and nearby Hilo. Quiet and relaxing. The bed was very comfortable, sitting area and kitchen well appointed. We didn't cook any meals, but enjoyed the coffee and popcorn. I especially appreciated the little coffee creamers. Leslie was a great host, thoughtful and very helpful in all of our communications. Her guide book at the mansion is a gem. The crab cakes at Café Pesto in Hilo truly are divine!

“Quiet, cozy, isolated hideaway”
Reviewed June 18, 2016 for a stay in March 2016

We stayed two nights, and found it cosy and comfy. The drive down tiny roads was not a problem, and it is not far to the Volcano Park.

The owner has a rather obsessive/compulsive personality :). She has tiny signs with instructions throughout the suite, and likes things to be neat and clean. However, the upside is that if we all agree to follow her preferences, the suite will forever remain neat and clean for our fellow guests! So if you think of her signs and rules as charming or amusing, then your stay will be even more memorable. I recommend it, and would stay there again.

Management Response
Jun 19, 2016
:-) tiny signs come from experiences and meant to be helpful... inspired by either calls I'd get or incidents that happened.... ie a guest burning towels (to dry!) on the fireplace... poof, 'instant' sign. A few times of an art piece handled and fallen causing damage...poof, an 'eventual' sign. Taking your shoes off at the door is a Hawaiian custom which is the only 'clean' sign I can think of.. and the only cleaning we ask for are your own dishes and food clean up (no trash/laundry/housecleaning) That said.. yes, we do love it superclean, but we take care of that part. You'll also enjoy my obsessively done guest book of sites, hikes, etc.. A hui hou! Leslie

“Cozy Volcano Cottage”
Reviewed June 4, 2016 for a stay in May 2016

This place is a hidden gem. Not only were we a 5 min drive to the volcano national park, but the cottage is secluded and surrounded by a rain forest. Very relaxing and perfect for a couple getaway. The owners clearly put a lot of care and thought into making the home comfortable and cozy! The restaurant recommendations in the folder were also spot on.
