“Clean & comfy!”
Reviewed October 4, 2015 for a stay in September 2015

The cottage was very clean and the furnishings were homey and comfortable. The set up was great for a couple and the cottage was well-equipped, with some nice welcoming touches. It's down a small lane but easy to find (in daylight). Once we were there, it was easy to navigate our way to and from Volcano National Park, even at night.

“Beautiful, serene Volcano oasis”

Loved staying in this clean, quiet, cottage for two nights while we explored the "Hilo-side" of the Big Island. We used it as a base to see Kiluea and check out Hilo and Pahoa as well. Leslie and her guide binder when you arrive are a wealth of knowledge and she shares it all readily as soon as you book. Since there's not much to do IN Volcano Village after 8pm, we enjoyed watching a house DVD snuggled up on the couch. It was great!

“Lovely hideaway minutes from VNP”
Reviewed September 6, 2015 for a stay in September 2015

We stayed two nights in the Menehune mansion. Lovely cottage surrounding by beautiful plants, feels like you are miles away from anyone else. The cottage is fairly spacious, nice kitchen, comfortable bed. Stock up on food before you arrive as we did not find anything beyond a convenience store in Volcano. My only complaint is the sparse window coverings that let in a lot of light, but it's rare to stay in a place with good curtains/shades. If you stay here, program your GPS to Maile Way and then follow the owner's directions. Very reasonably priced.

“A very cute cottage in the jungle”

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this cute cottage in the jungle. We wished we had stayed there at least 1 more night. It was very quiet, so quiet we even made a recording of just the raindrops hitting the leaves and the birds singing. The cottage itself is very clean and well taken care of and everything you need (except food of course) is provided. If you are going to stay overnight to visit Volcanoes National Park then you can't beat this place to stay! It is at most a 5 to 10 minute drive to the park gates. Leslie was excellent to deal with and was very accommodating. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

“Oh I loved this place so much.”
Reviewed March 25, 2015 for a stay in March 2015

A gorgeous cottage in the forest with little Menehunes; if you don’t know what those are, look them up and be prepared to live a little bit like you are in a fairy tale. The owners thought of everything with this spot. All the utensils, toiletries, movies, games, books, coffee, popcorn; a lot of little touches that added up to a perfect spot to stay while visiting the park. I will definitely book this place again the next time I am on the island!

“Beautiful, well outfitted, clean, great location, friendly service”
Reviewed February 18, 2015 for a stay in February 2015

If you want to stay in a restorative sanctuary outfitted with cooking and comfort in mind this is the place. This one bedroom cabin is located in a forested neighborhood right outside the gate of Volcanos National Park. Close enough to easily enjoy the sunset and sunrise glows at the vent within Halema'uma'u Crater or day hikes anywhere in the park. The owner has thoughtfully outfitted this cabin from extra blankets, electric blankets on the bed and a electric fireplace for the crisp nights to the well equipped and clean kitchen. There are fun books and movies, umbrellas, a wonderful guide book to the area written by Leslie and a beautiful lanai to enjoy the many shades of green, the flowers and honeycreepers that frequent the yard. After a week in the island the humidity can make everything a little damp. Leslie has thought of this too and has a dehumidifier in the cabin that helps to keep the place dry and warm.
