We recently used VolcanoDisovery Hawai’i Tours to provide a tour on the Big Island of Hawaii. Arthur met us precisely at the designated time and did a superb job. We had asked for snacks and sandwiches which were provided exactly as specified – and were delicious. Arthur was very knowledgeable about not only the volcanoes but also about the eco systems. We booked a 4 hour tour, but would have enjoyed spending the whole day with him. He even took the time help with night settings on the camera resulting in some great shots of the active lava lake. Should the opportunity arise we will definitely use them again and will recommend them without hesitation.

We've visited a lot of National Parks. This is the first time we've hired a personal guide for the day and we are so glad we did. Our guide, Arthur, was not only a personable and likable young man, but he exuded a passion for the island and this park that was wonderful to be in the presence of. We were at the park for a couple of days. The first day, we drove Chain of Craters Road to the ocean and hiked a number of the shorter trails off of it, visited Thurston Lava Tube, and did the number one hike on the island - the Kilauea Iki Trail - DO NOT MISS THIS HIKE!

The next day Arthur picked us up at our cottage at 11AM for an eight hour tour that was customized on the spot, taking into consideration what what my husband and I had done on our own the previous day. I wondered initially if he'd be able to keep us engaged for an entire day, but he exceeded our wildest expectations.

Arthur's knowledge of the geology of the park and its wild-life and plant-life was amazing. Arthur is also a gifted storyteller. He shared some incredible stories with us, complete with pictures, and brought the volcanic eruptions of the past to life for us in 2014. We hiked into more remote areas of the park, saw some fantastic sights and experienced some once in a life time type moments, like observing endangered baby happy face spiders - google them - really cool.

If you're looking for a tour that will let you experience the heart and soul of Volcano National Park, this is the one for you.

We took a flight from Oahu for a day trip to the Big Island. (Note: Do not book a flight on Go airlines as their service is unreliable. We had originally booked one leg of our flight on Go, but it was cancelled ahead of time. Luckily, we were able to book on Hawaiian and make our trip as planned.)

We booked the 6 hour tour and had Neil as our guide. He was fantastic and patient with our sons, 8 & 6. He was extremely knowledgeable and added in adventures (such as exploring a cool lava tube and seeing waterfalls) that our boys would enjoy. We had a wonderful day! I would advise a longer tour if you can swing it as we would have liked to have explored more of the park if time was not an issue. Wonderful experience and would book again with this company.

I booked a trip with Malia and Erik Storm for some older clients of mine. Erik picked them up at the airport, escorted them to their hotel and then took them on a "tour of their life" through the Volcanoes. My clients returned from their trip with wonderful reviews of Volcano Discovery Hawai'i and their guide Erik. They went on many tours in Hawaii and this was their favorite. Erik was extremely knowledgeable, personable and engaging. Erik also created a tour which accommodated my clients' physical condition (i.e. recent hip replacements), so they were able to explore the volcanoes with minimal walking.
Thank you for making my clients' trip a success.

Our 9 and 7 year old, my husband and I initially booked a 6-hour lava proximity tour but the plan was altered due to the volatile volcano conditions. Neil was our tour guide and we can't say enough wonderful things about him. His knowledge of most things Hawaiian, including botany, geology, culture, legend and wildlife were impressive and his patience with our children was moving. Throughout our communications with Volcano Discovery Tours, we were impressed with their responsiveness, their flexibility, and their concern for our happiness. Neil emulated all these qualities in offering us several options for our 7 hour tour. The day ended up being one of our favorite in Kauai including a short 1 mile hike, a longer, 4 mile hike to a volcano crater, over a frozen lava field, the view of the sunset along the rugged south coast and some amazing pictures opportunities of the glow from Kilauea with the sunset behind. Neil was simply the best, funny, yet professional, informative yet personal and obviously someone who loves his job. We would definitely book another tour with Neil and would highly recommend any tour with Volcano Discovery Tours.
