We booked from france through internet, and we felt we were already taken care of ! Very well organized and secure. Our guide, Arthur, was awesome ! He knew so many things and was patient enough to explain and answer our questions. We very much appreciated the flexibility of the tour, the great attention payed to our needs and desires. Arthur knew the best spots, and how to avoid the rain ! It was a great day tour. Thanks !

We booked a 6 hour tour in November and had a fantastic day out with Neil. He was knowledgeable and affable, and showed us lots of really cool things that we wouldn't have found by ourselves, including a really fun walk through a big lavatube at dusk. The lava had stopped flowing when we were there but we had a full fun day nonetheless. We enjoyed it so much that we booked a helicopter tour the next day to see the lava at the Pu'u O'o cinder cone that Neil had told us about, which was also really great fun (that was with Paradise Helicopters).
Neil really went the extra mile to make sure that we enjoyed our day, including staying half an hour late with us to make sure that we could see the Kiluaea crater flowing at night -- it was so voggy that at first it was not visible but we drove a bit further up the road and managed to catch sight of it. His superior SLR skills meant we also got a really great photo of the two of us by the crater as well! Finally, the other thing we were really impressed by was Neil's wonderful telling of the story of Pele, the Hawaiian goddess of the volcano -- his knowledge and story telling skills were amazing! And he knows how to chop up a pineapple :) We thoroughly recommend booking with Volcano Discovery tours, they were really prompt and courteous over email, and the day itself was wonderful. Thank you again!

What a fantastic experience we had with VolcanoDiscovery Hawai'i! Our guide, Neil, was our very knowledgeable host and expert. Our 6 hour tour was action packed and fun filled. From the various lava flows, to the hike to one of the craters; Neil guided and informed us of the mythology and science we were witnessing. We also participated in the voluntourism program (1 hr.), where we helped remove invasive plant species from the forest. All the tools

Having been to Volcanoes National park in the past and doing a self guided tour... VolcanoDiscovery met and exceeded our expectations. There is no comparison with a self guided or the BIG tours. Spend the little extra and get the personal touch! Water, juices and snacks were provided through out, too! Thank you so much to Neil and Mailia for making this a great time and for creating memories that will last lifetime.

We came to the Big Island with one intention in mind- to see flowing lava. We booked the lava-viewing tour, but unfortunately, the lava stopped flowing in accessible areas a few weeks before our arrival. As a back-up, we planned a tour of Volcanoes National Park. Going in, we were disappointed and not thrilled to have to spend so much on a tour of the park that we thought we could do ourselves, but boy, were we blown away! The tour was worth every penny and more.
Our guide was Arthur. He was incredibly informed about all aspects of the park and the volcanoes, and we didn't ask any question he couldn't answer. The next day when we went back to the park on our own, we already knew more about everything we read about in their brochures and signs.
We had told the company ahead of time that we wanted to go on a good hike during our tour. Arthur took us on a trail that lead through lava fields, past lava trees, through a "lava oasis" forest, and finally up to a steaming crater (after the fact, we read about this trail in our guide book, which was listed not in the "hiking" section, but in the "adventure" section- we definitely would not have done this one on our own! But Arthur was so safety-conscious and knowledgeable about the terrain that we had no idea it was a "challenging" hike while we were on it!) He picked up on my interest in photography, and showed me settings on my camera to get better pictures of things we saw. He also managed to get us to all of the park highlights- made very efficient use of our time. Finally, he told us what and when to do when we came back on our own the next day (the things that we would be able to do easily on our own, so that he could spend more time with us on the things the average visitor doesn't see). And also gave a great restaurant and meal option! One last point- the company provided plenty of snacks- fresh fruit, chips, cookies, nuts- good thing we did a lot of hiking!
We had such an incredible experience with VolcanoDiscovery, and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone visiting the Big Island!

We were keen to get a full experience of the Volcano National Park and searched Trip Advisor for some ideas when we saw Volcano Discovery Hawaii's great reviews. Well they lived up to our expectations. Our guide was Arthur who was extremely knowledgeable not only about the volcanoes but also about the native flora and fauna which was a huge bonus. I would definitely recommend these guys - we had an amazing time and am sure you will too.
