“A Warm, Comfy, Peaceful Stay”
Reviewed January 24, 2017 for a stay in January 2017

We chose this property for its proximity to the Volcanoes National Park which we wanted to visit more than once on our stay on the Big Island. Maile Treehouse is really like a treehouse! Green foliage from all windows! We enjoyed this peaceful retreat in this most welcoming home. The owner, Leslie, is very responsive to questions and provides a lot of detail to the good functioning of her home and the great attractions and restaurants in the area. The decor is charming and the amenities great. We also appreciated the kitchen staples like creamer and coffee, spices and condiments that were available.
We had some cooler nights and mornings, so we really appreciated the warm and comfy bed linens!

“Perfect, secluded getaway with hidden charm”

My wife and I booked the Maile Treehouse for our honeymoon and could not have been happier with it. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we felt welcomed and taken care of by our (invisible) hosts, Leslie and Mike.

The kitchen is fully-stocked equipment-wise - much more so than any other vacation rental we've ever seen. We cooked over half of our meals here, which, since we love cooking together, was phenomenal! There are a few (great) places to eat in Volcano, but if you're looking to cozy up and cook a dinner at home, this is a perfect place to do so if desired.

The flow and design of the house is something out of an interior design magazine - a double-sided fireplace for those "Hawaiian cold" nights, a master bedroom with shower and jacuzzi flowing seamlessly to the bed area, windows on every wall completely enclosed by native greenery... after you leave this place, you will miss it!

Overall, we could not recommend the Maile Treehouse enough. We will certainly return!

“Wonderful Stay”
Reviewed January 10, 2017 for a stay in November 2016

We are so grateful we found such a haven to stay for 3 nights on the Big Island. The house was immaculate and had many charming touches which showed pride in ownership. It rained the majority of our stay but that did not deter our adventures. The home was cozy and inviting upon our return each day. Kitchen set up was great for cooking our own meals. Highly recommended!

“Homey Slice of Heaven in the Jungle -- On a Volcano!”

My wife and I spent three nights at the "treehouse" and it was the nicest experience we had in our two weeks at Hawaii. The home is very comfortable, well-kept, and very nicely furnished. The bed was quite comfortable (slept 10 hours each night!) and the gas fireplace really warmed the place up when needed. Really appreciated the well-equiped and stocked kitchen: could probably cook Thanksgiving dinner there if we wanted (didn't want to!) and there were plenty of spices, oils, etc for small-scale cooking. The grounds around the house are interesting, the area quiet. We were really glad that we got there in the daylight - the short drive down Maile street was like being in the jungle. Overall, very cool place, and remarkably located adjacent to the incredible Volcano National Park. Thanks for everything, Leslie!

This place is spectacular. I am not a person that usually writes reviews but I had to for this rental. The house is so much more than what you see in the pictures. When it comes to this property it's the privacy and the details that make it so special. There are tiny decorations and little thoughtful touches that made the house truly unique. Leslie was wonderful to work with and gave perfect instructions, which made our arrival easy as could be! Listen to the recommendations in the binder she leaves for you as they were spot on. I will definitely be staying here on my next trip to the big island. Words can not describe how amazing it is!

“Awesome View, Close to Volcano Park”

This place was just wonderful. All the comforts of home, within a 10 minute drive of Volcano Park, within easy walking distance of The Volcano Store, and several restaurants.

The unit has a hot tub and an interesting shower - you open the windows and turn on the fan. It has a nice, full kitchen with everything you need to make any meals you want. The hosts graciously offered pancakes.

Everything worked, and there were plenty of books to read including a classic Science Fiction anthology from the 50's, when you came back too tired to move from Volcano.

We were happy to have a rental car with a back up camera - it made getting into the parking space easier, and out a lot easier.

We had the upper unit, and really enjoyed it. It was the best room we stayed in out of four in our Hawai'i vacation.

The sleep was relaxing. No shades on the windows means bring your own mask if you are sensitive to light and want to sleep in.

Management Response
Aug 9, 2016
so happy to hear Maile Treehouse was your best Hawaii stay!
just a side note..
we do have (washed) eyemasks in your side tables
and the 'upper unit IS the cottage.. downstairs is a second bedroom option for the same reservation, so you would never be there with some else downstairs. We are about two miles from the Park.

“Truly special!”
Reviewed June 9, 2016 for a stay in June 2016

Wow. This is one of the most spectacular places we have ever stayed. Totally private digs in the middle of a beautiful rainforest. Wonderful reading material... Loved the books in the bathroom and the waterproof books by the tub... And the beautiful chess set, cozy fireplace, and banana macadamia nut pancake mix and Portuguese sausage left out for breakfast... Not to mention all of the very unique decor and the great care that was taken in creating every aspect of this beautiful home. It shows in every detail.
